It took a few pages for the Doherty thread to collapse into anti-vax conspiracy. Wonder how long this'll take :pac:

There's not exactly been a glut of opinions expressed so far this thread, just a link dump

Watch the Waters/Molyneux video in the OP as soon as you can, as the original Molyneux "Ireland 2040" video has been blocked by YouTube from viewing by IP addresses within the EU.

There's an internal EU paper that was accessed and leaked out recently that suggests Ireland potentially can accommodate 65:million people and France 481 million people.

No tin foil hat and I've no skin in the game, I'll be back with a link.

    Seems legit. Awaiting link.

Well I'm sure as it's been leaked, you can show a link there ...

There are current threads about Ted Bundy and the murderers of James Bulger. That's degeneracy.

Much of the time I'm not a fan of Waters. I don't know much about Molyneux but what I know of him, he appears quite articulate and reasoned. Neither one is a "degenerate" though. That's not a rational description for people whose opinions you find abhorrent and nothing more.

Nah, they both are. They’ve both been done to death on here.

According to them, Irish people are idiots who have been brainwashed by the (((liberal media))), and now that we’ve allowed the gays to get married and women to have abortions, Ireland is doomed. Also, the blacks are coming to take over the world.

That’s it. Absolute bottom of the barrel degenerates. But if people get a raging hard-on watching their videos, so be it. Their numbers are dwindling every day.

Molyneux is a strange character altogether. He is of the belief that all the violence in the world can be blamed on women....because of how they treat their sons. I wish I was making that up. There is nothing reasoned about him tbh. He is a total spoofer that came to fame on social media (a place where spoofers can make themselves famous and make a few quid). I have no idea why he is held in high regard by anybody.

The last I heard of Waters was during the abortion referendum when Dunphy made him have a tantrum and he stormed off. He's a gob****e.

I remember him supporting the Iraq war, while also being "pro life".
I guess he should stick to reading dictionaries instead of the bible.

Nothing to do with alignments, just hypocricy about he value of life starting at conception but seem to ignore what happens after birth.

    Maybe it's moral relativism.
No I think it is partially - it's like "I'm a staunch conservative, therefore I must support the Iraq war and I must be anti abortion".

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 6,309 Mod ✭✭✭✭mzungu

Ew, loony alert. Still not a degenerate though.

On degenerate I agree. Usually that is reserved for the worst of the worst. Waters is ultimately harmless, but I would agree with none of his views.

On the other hand, Molyneux was investigated for cult like behaviour (advising his fans to leave their families etc). It goes beyond general loony-esque stuff to the point of being sinister.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,995 ✭✭✭Ipso

Tribalism, unfortunately all to prevalent today. Where some people's position seems to be the opposite of people who normally agree with them or won't agree with people as they normally disagree with them.

He is reasoned alright, in his approach.
    Nice and neat A+B=C style.

The only one minor flaw is that the input to his logic, his 'facts', are wrong, or wrongly presented.

So his systemic approach ends up rendering a false conclusion.

Plenty of his subscribers of course view him as a logic machine, who is only criticized by emotional irrational whiners.

    But a pragmatic fact check will often either show;
    (1) that the information used is not factual.
    (2) or more concerning, that correct but non related information has been used.

This (2) is the case in his other Ireland video.

Where he basically says something along the lines of 'muslims muslims muslims muslims muslims black people, africans, black people, muslims, ireland will have x number of immigrants by x date'

Intentionally leaving out that this x number will be 90% Europeans.

How can we know that he does it intentionally?
Cause he combs through stats, and cherry picks dozens of the best, most pertinent, most shocking ones. And analyses them well, takes details, makes logical deductions.
He's no dummy, yet he just seems to have this unfortunate habit of missng out details which go against his narrative.

Then he presents this narrative with the shock stats, and 'some' people fall for it.
Those 'some' people unfortunately tend to be quite loud, obnoxious, and malcontent.

    Entertaining all the same.

If you're impressed by these guys, I'm guessing you're around 15 years old. Possibly celibate and involuntarily so. Maybe with a stash of red pills under your bed with a guilty and crusty sock.

Look. I get it. You watched Joe Rogan interview Bigfoot and the next thing you know, the next video was Jordan Peterson telling you that it's not you but the ladies who are wrong for not being monogamous with you. Then, as you were filling another sock, on came Paul Joseph Watson to tell you that the muslims invaded and took all the girls.

Later, as Ben Shapiro made you feel smart, even if you couldn't really understand whether you should like baby Hitler or not, you drifted off to Alex jones pointing a gun at the camera and yelling something about turning the frogs gay.

When you woke up the next morning with your thighs uncomfortably stuck to the dirty undersheet, this is the video that was playing. THIS video is the one that you thought you would share with us without any context, expecting us to take time out of our busy lives to watch this sad tale end of a shíte alt-right youtube autoplay sleep-watch?

Seriously? We deserve better than that, OP.

The thinking of people like is that if you are right-of-centre and hold conservative views....that you must be a basement dweller looney who doesn't understood real life and can't get a woman.

The bit about not getting a girlfriend been ironically sexist on the behalf of these male liberals as it assumes that all women are unthinkingly left wing and never ever subscribe to conservative views.

There are just as many women conservatives as there are male conservatives. Though that doesn't sit well with the smear tactic that everybody who is right-of-centre is a male who holds these views just because he can't form a relationship with a woman.

This whole thread is rediculous Stefan and waters have as much a right to express their beliefs and opinions as o’toole or anyone else in media or otherwise. The marketplace of ideas will show up the odd balls and people’s whos views don’t stand to scrutiny. Banning YouTube videos by an ip geo block as the eu have been doing for a while now is rediculous and damaging to people’s trust in government institutions.

It's just like the line that pro-EU liberals took during the French election when Marine Le Pen was running for the French presidency.

The Left are pro-women, just so long as you agree with them and don't have the "wrong" political outlook.

I just don't understand the mentality of modern left liberals. They seek to demonise their opponents to the extent of rendering their opponents to be non-human.

Conservatives will try to openly debate Liberals but all the latter seem to be capable of is to demonise their opponents.

Stefan Molyneux and John Waters are both intelligent, articulate and accomplished men. And yet....left wing people try to dismiss their voices as unworthy of hearing.

Whatever happened to Voltaire's mantra of

"I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will fight to the death for your right to say it".

Modern so-called Liberals seem to have a mentality that if "you don't agree with me, then you are automatically 100% wrong".

In many ways....modern self-described Liberals are the most intolerant and illerbal people on the face of the planet. Perhaps those who label themselves Liberal are more illiberal than they'd care to admit.

The thing about Stefan Molyneaux is that much of what he says is true, ie the stats he uses, but he interprets a lot of it in a skewed way to suit his agenda.

For example the whole Africans have low IQ thing. It's been shown that IQ tests assume a certain basic level of education. For example ask a city dweller if I have 10 birds in a tree and I shoot one, how many are left? He will say 9. The African bushman will say none, because the shot will scare off the others. If you look at middle class African Americans the IQ difference disappears. He won't tell you that bit though.

It is a good question though why we need millions more people in Ireland by 2040.

What makes him so popular is that the media similarly bend facts that don't suit their narrative.

John Walters is a tool and always has been.

You don't have to listen to it so. No problem. Others can though, if they wish.

Personally I can't bear Molyneaux's voice and Waters is so vain and self obsessed that I would not bother listening. But like most people they will probably present a mix of correct and incorrect opinions. Big deal.

It's easy to farcically dismiss people. An interview of the Clintons by some big knob RTE person could be called An Evening With A War Criminal And A Rapist. See? Easy.

The absolute state of this thread.

A long litany of the usual tropes "nutters", "serial killers", etc.

At this point using such terms doesn't make the speaker look cool, just malleable, uninformed and uneducated.

I don't even like Molyneux, I dislike his grandstanding delivery, but throwing insults with no facts to back it up isn't working anymore in terms of discrediting your opponent.
