I bought a set on Aliepress, and they're grand - actually ordered a 2nd set.
OGE brand - they've been fine this last few months, though I'll see how they survive the frost after this week..

Paid €11.63 for 2, then €15.83 for a set of 3 for my car.

Any link! Suppose it took months for delivery

How long do people change their wipers? The rubbers on mine are gone hard and it is just noisy and annoying now and they were fitted last March when I bought the car second hand from a Garage.

I'll give Ali-express a look myself, anything would be better than what I have at the moment. I have bought several small things from Ali-express before but shipped them via Parcel Motel and AddressPal as An Post can take months to process parcels from China.

Just type in OGE into the search bar, and their store comes up.

Of course you have to wait, and Chinese New Year will likely add extra time..

If someone needs to replace their wipers waiting several weeks for them to arrive from China isn't much use. Good idea if you are planning ahead for when you're current wipers need replacing though.

I change mine every year around the end of march, after the frost,

    I always buy Bosch wipers.

Check Mick's garage, euro car parts and a few others.
    There's always deals on.

What type car are they for?

Are the savings really that good online when you include postage?

I normally just go to my local motor factors and get Bosch wipers once I start to notice them wearing.

Local motor factors, Bosch normally, I find them to be about the same price as online.

    halfords

About £20 on Amazon at the moment for a pair of Bosch Aero jobs. No idea how this compares to local motor factors but certainly cheaper than Halfords.

On last service dealer tried to sell me a set for 59eu. I politely said nope and went to old motorfactors, where a fella that I know works. Got me set of Bosch ones for 30eu and fitted them too.

The are €36 in a main dealer, which are Bosch blades iirc.

I have given up on Micks Garage as not competitive enough anymore, I have used MR.Auto for blades and filters and worked out a lot cheaper and the postage time was about the same, your local motor factors is great if you want straight away but I plan my orders for parts so have then in hand when doing the work

If you're this way inclined... Peugeot 607 use a wiper that has a quare locking system to attach to the arm, certainly wasn't going to pay for a replacement set from Peugeot!

Set of Bosch blades in the correct length and swapped the rubber blades across to the 607 frames, no problems to report so far ;)

Bought some of the AliExpress jobbies above there - will see what they're like. Only rear wiper that's on the way out so I have some time to play with. Thanks for the heads up.

I used to use Bosch as they where cheaper than the Main Dealer but was only €30 for a front set last time for a Tiguan.

Valeo or Bosch are the only decent aftermarket blades IMO

They have good sales and throw out discounts. It's the only time I buy from them.

My local motor factors do Bosch Aerotwin ones €22 for a pair.

Does anyone know of a motor factors around Dublin doing Valeo aero wipers for a decent price?
I'm not overly impressed with the lifespan of the Bosch ones would like to give another brand a try.

I always find in an online website in Ireland (link below) with good prices for things I needed, including wipers. Think buying from Aliexpress with unknown quality and take months to be arrived would not worth.

I buy a lot from Ali, but it's hit and miss.

Bought a lot of Led bulbs that were cheap, but found out there's a reason they're cheap.

I bought these which cost me €22.58 delivered after, however they did not arrive on time for the weekend and I ended up paying €40 to a local motor factors for the exact same Bosch wipers. €17.42 more expensive than Amazon, I absolutely could not drive the car another mile as I was so close to exploding with rage from the noise and smearing of them, Saturday and Sunday was bucketing it down and boy did they make driving a pleasure again.

Dealer. No set of aftermarket wipers, be it Bosch, Valeo oraz Champion, never lasted longer than half of what the genuine last...

The long hot summer of 2018 prematurely shortened the lives of a lot of the rubber on wipers in Ireland. Even on new cars, so I wouldn't go swapping makes this year.

Edit - Buy new wipers by all means of course!

    Mr Price
€1.49 .... I can by 1 set a month instead of some bosch ones

And don't forget Halfords often have buy one get one free. Similarly with bulbs they are a rip off normal price but often have deals on.

E35 for a full Bosh set for a Ford Focus, fitting included

    Is this good?

Price the dealer. Ford can be reasonable with their wipers.

From what I can see its E40 from ford, but confusing and knowing main dealers be E40 just to fit them

Do you mean someone to change them

    Or

    Changing the item itself

I'm not here to teach English - I replied (with sources) to your simple question. You might use that opportunity to learn something about your language or ignore it.

But if that's not enough, here's a longer story... It's crazy to base your decision on the fact that some prices include and some doesn't include fitting. The fitting of wipers is super-easy and it actually is more inconvenient to have them fitted than doing it yourself.

    Avoid sneaky edits too.

Amazing how fast some people can reply when being smart, but not when someone is looking for help

I replied to your post as it was not clear what you meant but then I can't speak English properly

I wasn't pricing it on fitting actually, I'm well able to fit them

I was asking as none in aldi , Lidl or dealz as someone suggested and am use to paying those prices

If you can get a product fitted for free then why turn it down? Also saves putting them into the bin at home

    Not a recommendation, but a little side story nonetheless;

I had to get wipers for my Ford Galaxy before. In Drogheda, there are two motor factors right next door to each other. Similar names, similar style of buildings, etc. (for anyone in the area it'll be obvious where I'm talking about).

I wandered in to get wipers for my Galaxy, felt a little hard done by at a price close to €60. Even a customer beside me commented that wipers had gone very expensive these days. Did get a free bottle of washer fluid though, so that was something.

About 6 months later, wandered in to get a set of wipers for a Mondeo, and instead went into the other motor factors next door. Got my wipers and they seemed cheaper. So I asked what would I pay for a set of wipers for a Galaxy (as a galaxy has a bigger windscreen, therefore longer wipers), and the price given to me was in the region of €30-35.

I can't recall the exact figures, but I do remember there was at least €20 in the difference for the same wipers from two shops that are literally next door to each other (effectively sharing a building).

So my advice is just always shop around. I figured Motor Factors were always the same, and all would have similar pricing etc. but apparently not.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,931 ✭✭✭jeffk

That's some difference, especially when literally next door to each other

You'll probably be told the dearer ones some specialist ford ones

I looked at Halfords and was around 30 for a set, unfortunately in Blanch there isn't much choice or places to price online

Thinking if I get in with this motors parts place might be good for changing bulbs as we all know some of them are a nightmare

Ebay from UK, always shopping around for cheapest from aero flat style - last time paid approx 6 pounds per pair incl. delivery to parcelwizard (got sets for all our cars in one go). In terms of lifespan - just replaced a set I bought on July 2018. :)
