Jonathan Rhys Meyers is among the guests joining Ray D'Arcy this Saturday night on RTÉ One.

To celebrate 25 years of Barretstown, ambassadors Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Aidan Gillen will be on the Ray D'Arcy Show with Clea Newman, the daughter of Barretstown founder Paul Newman.

Also joining Ray on the show will be financial guru Eoin McGee, who will be talking about spending and saving for the year ahead.

There will be performances from Freya Ridings and the Christchurch Cathedral Choir.

The Ray D'Arcy Show airs on Saturday, January 26 at 9.50pm on RTÉ One.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers was good as Elvis in the 2005 CBS Elvis mini series. He won a Golden Globe for it, it still pops up on True Movies and True Entertainment from time to time.

He seems to have had some issues lately with addictions, alas.

RTE Player seems to be working ok this week.

It's not as if RTE blocked last week's show in case Noel Edmonds said anything libelous. :pac:

Ray, I am not normally inclined to criticise but that it too many interviewees for one panel.

Ray D'arcy interviewed the legend Paul Newman, at home Ryan Tubridy just fell off his couch

Do yourself a favour and watch The Hustler. A great film and a great actor.

I remember when Barretstown launched there was an advert on Irish Radio with Will Carling, the England Rugby Captain, looking for donations.

    No-one else, just Will.

Just shows how bad Irish Rugby was then. I don't think you would get that now.

The only other people I ever heard refer to as campers were the guests as Maplin Holiday Camp in Hi De Hi

Ted Bovis from Hi De Hi also sang a bit. Badly.

If you only watch one Paul Newman film I recommend The Sting. It's class.

Robert Redford and Robert Shaw are also in it.

Newman would seem to be have been an extraordinarily generous and decent human being.

Decent enough section, very impressed with Clea Newman.

She would have been a good interviewee in her own right.

Good to hear Barretstown is still going strong.

That women's rugby ad is terrible.

'representing a country of over 3 million', technically correct but far out from the actual figure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 74,283 ✭✭✭✭Welsh Megaman

    Written on Ray's cue card...

'Make sure Clea doesn't forget that her Dad is dead.'

That Bros Doc is repeated on BBC2 in 10 minutes.

I was half-watching the Darts when it was on at Christmas so I didn't get the full effect, but people were raving about it being a real life Spinal Tap

Mortgages, lol, we pay once of the highest mortgage rates in the EU because we have such sheite legislation in the country that someone can not pay their mortgage for a number of years without getting evicted. No bank of any sound mind would come to this country to sell mortgages.
