Mobile data will not work on my phone. I have seen reset all networks as a solution. Does that mean typing in wi fi password again

What phone & network is it ? You might have the wrong apn settings and need to sort these.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 781 ✭✭✭davyboy1975

Mobile data and wifi are two separate and different things. Which are you trying to use.
If its wifi make sure the data is turned off.
If you are at home use the wifi if it works. Make sure data is off on your phone if ur using wifi as it can stop it from working
U dont need to enter a password for data only for the wifi network

Has the data ever worked? Do you have free data on your phone package? Have you rang the network to see if data block is on ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 126 ✭✭7znbd9xmoiupye

    It did work.
Do you have free data on your phone package?
yes I can see by texting a number i have credit. I know it is different to wi fi. eir mobile and a sony phone

apn is data.myeirmobile.ie as advised on the eir site

the wi fi is ok it works at home. It is just if i reset all i will have to re eeter the wi fi password

Open the APN settings an make sure, that the correct settings are applied.
    APN settings

Should you need to enter your APN settings manually, please find all the details you need below:

    Connection name: eir Mobile data
Data bearer: Packet data or GPRS on some handsets
    Access Point Name (APN): broadband.myeirmobile.ie
    Username: N/A
    Prompt password: N/A
    Password: N/A
    Authentication: None
    Homepage: https://my.eir.ie/

    https://www.eir.ie/support/mobile/setting-up-mobile-broadband/

It may different on your particular device, but resetting the connections will wipe passwords etc.

Edit: Had mobile broadband settings posted first, re-edited them.

There is no "Data bearer: Packet data or GPRS on some handsets"
Only 'bearer' i assume is the same

Bearer wasUnspecified. When i change to GPRS it still does not work. I also tried gsm

Network operator is 3G eir it has a tick beside it. If i touch it it says "regd on network"

If you've tried everything, you should get on to Eir and seek their help.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,471 ✭✭✭EdgeCase

If it's a recent change of network, it's possible that there's a glitch with how your account is configured at their side.

Call 1901 or go to www.eir.ie and use web chat (usually faster than holding).

They should be able to get you sorted.

Failing that, physically walk into an Eir store.

    no it is not

Even if its not a network change, It must be something on Eir side thats not helping with your connection issues. Contact them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,471 ✭✭✭EdgeCase

    no it is not

If you've verified the settings, they're all correct and the mobile data is definitely switched on, it can only be a problem with the account on the network side.

You can also reach Eir support directly on boards.ie at https://www.boards.ie/ttforum/1293

Do you see an E, 3, H or 4 alongside your phone signal strength indicator at the top of your screen when you have your WiFi switched off?

No i don't. Should I? I do not ever recall that even when the mobile data worked

On the box it says LTE/4G. Preferred network is LTE(preferred)/WCDMA/GSM in case it is important or helpful. When i go to network operators it selects one and a tick mark is beside it. when i press on the network it says registered on network

Are you seeing any when you switch off the WiFi

    I never see E, 3, H or 4.

When both are off i see a small x over the signal indicator. I presume that means no signal?

But that would mean there is a signal when the wi fi is off and the mobile on?

I also tried turning off the phone and removing the sim.
