QC is licensed from Qualcomm, knockoffs probably don't support it. 11-12 GBP is really quite reasonable.

So 20 plus euro is the going rate for a plug?

11 GBP for Anker, 12 GBP for the Aukey. Thats only €14.

Be glad its not an Oppo/OP, they like to charge €45 for VOOC chargers.

Add in 6 euro from amazon or free to UK then 4 or so to dpd etc

    That's madness for a plug

Slow charging it is so, thanks

It's not a plug it's a charger. It's also intelligent so it communicates with your phone to know how to charge it faster and safely.

Which is why the charger and phone have to have the same phone charging standard and you need a data cable. One that carries power only won't fast charge.

Personally I wouldn't be without one

The problem with amazon as I said Is postage before you start picking a charger

Would love one at the right price

You don't know if they are working perfectly.

Install ampere and see what you are getting while charging. When the battery is very low.

Poor quality cables or old ones can't deliver n the same amount of power as good ones. They don't have the same thickness of cable.

Cheap chargers last months and are a fire risk...

    Worse 2800 mA
    Best 3010 mA

Fully charge from half the battery in a hour

If you can't/won't pay 8 euro for a fast charging plug, I don't know what your definition of cheap is.

Whats the amps written on your charger.
Some are 2a some are 4.5a (Honor 10 depend on which market)

Depending on which Honor you have it may have come with a fast charger, but its a Huawei proprietary charger. You most likely need to buy another Huawei charger to get fast charging.

If you want a proper Fast Charge / QC 3.0 plug, then you have to pay at least €12-15. Here is a local seller one on Adverts selling them for €12.90.

It would also help if you gave the make / model of phone as often, other companies charges will work if they use the same power output and these can be cheaper (e.g I use a Xiaomi one + a Motorola one for my Mi A2).

Haha not my add but if I had one, I'd share it on. The other 9V/2A is probably better for you for fastest rate but its Cavan. Also online to order from MyMemory below, free delivery for €12.64 (or €14.35 with 1 day priority) and comes with another USB cable.

Charging is usually regulated by the device, not the charger so the main determinant for fast charging is a charger that can deliver enough amps to allow the device to fast charge. You can connect a slow charge device to a fast charger and it will self regulate and just charge at it's safe rate slowly.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,648 ✭✭✭✭beauf

Using a non Huawei may not charge as fast. It should give you 2A which is decent. But its not Huawei Quick charging.
    https://nasilemaktech.com/review-honor-play/8/

Note that Huawei doesn't support Qualcomm QC. Thats a different standard/protocol. So theres no point in paying extra for that.
    https://uk.pcmag.com/phone-how-to/94432/what-is-fast-charging

Whats odd is your reporting more current than your charger is rated for.

I've a generic 2A charger and it only gives my phone 1A. When I use my QC cherger's I get 2A. Also changes depending which cable I use.

Thats got nothing to do with that I said. What your saying is about not pulling an unsafe current. Which correct. But I was talking about how to get the fastest charge.

I'm saying the phone and charger have to be compatible to fast charge at the fastest rate. As the links I gave show there is lot of different standards.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 22,648 ✭✭✭✭beauf

But those links show the Huawei will be fast with a generic 2A charge. It won't be the very fastest you can achieve with a Huawei one. But its probably good enough as a spare.

A lot better than a 0.5 or 1A one anyway.

 least I know be better than standard, be used for backup so should be grand the amount of times ill use it

Thanks for info and links :)

Chargers don't 'give' - devices use. If you take a 12v 0.25a bulb and connect it directly to the terminals of the battery in your car, through an ammeter to measure the current draw, you will find that the bulb only uses 0.25A, even though the battery could deliver 300A to a load if required. I have a Samsung Adaptive fast charger and it will safely charge everything I connect to it

But, yes, looks like I was wrong and you were correct that you need a fast charger that is compatible with the devices particular protocol.
