There's a fair step from a quick remark on a message board to riding someone unconscious for a decade.

Disgusting, what are going to tell the child when it grows up.

Why didn’t somebody abort the child and kill the mother for good measure?

    She was raped.
Saying he rode her is tactless all right but I agree with them that the problem is the incidents themselves rather than stuff said about them. I don't think those kinds of comments are what lead to such things happening.

That's a slippery slope if we start setting a standard allowing people to say she was rode instead of raped we are minimizing the appalling crime that happened.

But sure, rape can mean anything these days. Nobody was minimizing the crime. Calm down

Do you not think that ****ed up things like this happen likely due to far deeper and more complex causes than comments on the internet though? And that they were happening before social media?

Rape is when you ride someone against there will or when the victim can't consent.

So yes, he rode her. ****ing hell the outrage brigade is really scrapping the barrel here.

    Jeezus!

Calm down. I was only saying that the 'word' has been diluted by over use.

I was in no way implying that this actual crime was nothing less than abhorrent

No I don't think it can mean "anything" these days. It has only one meaning which is non-consensual sexual intercourse. I am calm just don't like to see a victim of this horrific crime being bashed unnecessarily by some keyboard warriors.

Devil's advocate here - riding is always used to convey consenting sex though. Always.

Ah yes use the outrage as an excuse for minimising the rape.

If you approached a stranger on the street and knew a rape had occurred and you were telling him about it so you said:

    John rode Mary last night.

    OR

    John raped Mary last night.

Which is a true and accurate reflection of what actually happened?

I certainly know which one is the correct version of events do you?

Holy sh1t, all kinds of wacko. Only you brought up abortion - nobody else did.

Anyway, while obviously the act in this case was infinitely worse than a word, I think it seems a bit disingenuous to say "ride" implies the same as "rape" even when the context is known. It's ok to discuss these things - words/language are important. :)

Mod-Reopened. Remember folks that this woman was and still is in a coma for over 10 years. There was no consent. This is the very definition of rape.

It would remind me of the type that have been found to fool about with the dead also.

Sick bastard, I hope they find the person and he will send serious time over there not like in Ireland.

    Not the same.

In the real world scenario the victim has been in a vegatative for over 10 years, I thaught it would be safe to assume if you said the culprit rode her it 100% implied he raped her since she is unable to consent.

I was talking in general terms.........

But what if the person didn't know the back story in this case and you said "he rode her".

Would that not imply to a person that didn't know the back story that consensual sexual intercourse had taken place therefore, the person would assume that a rape hadn't taken place when in actual fact it did but by choosing to use the word "rode" instead of rape a person would be completely oblivious to the fact that a rape had happened.

Couldn't give a flying f. Never heard of him either. Sorry for not being offended or outraged.
The first two sentences contradict each other.

I didn't say anything about being offended or outraged. In the case of a toddler being tortured and butchered, neither is required. Just being a human will do.

But yeah obviously you have a problem with certain stuff that doesn't involve you.

    Edgelordism fools nobody.

I'd say your ultimate seduction is a bit suspect. And speaking of changing definitions for the sake of being edgy or something!

How do you make out that raping is a sexual act done with someone? Rape is done to someone.

That member is now banned so can't reply to you.

I work in a residential care unit and often hear of patients being sexually assaulted in care homes. Have a family member myself who is in residential care and while nothing this serious has thankfully ever happened where she's located, one staff member was found to be pinching many under their care. Was going on for almost six months, with no idea who was behind it, before they were finally caught in the act. Some sick fcuks out there.

The first thing that came to mind though was this similar case from the UK from a few years back:

    https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/dna-snared-care-home-rapist-3177806

Hopefully there's a similar outcome in this case.

If you rape someone in a vegetative state,
would they give birth to a baby potato?

Not as long as so many of us are expressing horror at them as well as at the crime. The word "necrophilia" comes to mind. Except that the dead cannot bear young. Please God the dna catches him.

It really is beyond disturbing. The fact she was moaning giving birth does it mean she’s aware of what has been going on the last ten years. Sometimes death is better than being kept alive like that. It’s the stuff of nightmares. At least they should catch the bastard thanks to dna.
