Whats the thinking on smoothies - good to bad?
They have been one of those trends that changes in popularity from the best thing ever to pointless.

    I have one most mornings:
    1 Banana
    1 scoop whey protein
Frozen fruit - either strawberries and blueberries or carrots, ginger and blueberries.
    Mixed with Water.

Currently doing weight training 3-4 days a week with a view of losing a few lbs and getting a bit fitter & stronger.

Good way to start the day or absolutely terrible?

You'd be far better off eating the fruit than drinking it. But if it's the difference between you getting some form of fruit into your diet and none at all, than obviously it's better than nothing.

    Fruit>smoothies>nothing.

    Also

    Fruit>smoothies>juice.

They're fine. I personally switched to eating my fruit and whey rather than blitzing it though. Either Overnight Oats (I make it with frozen fruit, yogurt, whey and porridge) or mix a strawberry or vanilla whey with natural yogurt and have a fruit salad (fresh or defrosted frozen fruit) with muesli or granola or cereral. Both are a bit more satisfying than necking a smoothie for me.

    Hi Magic_Murph,

I have a smoothie before hitting the gym at 6:30 am. I have it because i can prepare it the night before and time is at a premium when getting up at 6:30. It consists of Avacado, Strawberries, Blueberries, Milk, Whey protien, fibre suppliment. Works out well for me, i do a mix of HIIT and Weight Training before work. Not usually hungry until 12:30 so im happy with that!

I would have the same breakfast smoothie every morning - Oats, Whey, Berries and a couple of lumps of frozen spinach
