Think the Colts can upset the Chiefs. Chiefs obviously have the big advantages of home field and coming off a bye, but I really fancy the Colts.

Gotta fancy the Rams but should be a tight game. Cowboys will essentially be playing a neutral venue but I don't think they'll have enough.

Genuinely couldn't call it but tipping the Chargers here. As a Pats fan it's the game of the weekend for me, but even from a neutral perspective I think it's the most even contest.

For the second week in a row I think the Eagles will lose handily. They will be playing hard after the hammering they took earlier in the season and the fact the Saints went for it on a 4th down despite being 30 odd points to the good, but still, can't see anything other than a comfortable home win.

3 tight games and a comfortable win for the Saints. Should a decent weekend of football.

The Saints are big favs against Philly obviously .... But the Eagles just beat a much better D in Chicago and they are getting back a lot of their own D from injury over the last couple of weeks... I think they are the form team in the NFL right now and know how to dig it out. All the pressure is on the Saints .... the battle between the Eagles DL and Saints OL is gonna be great to watch.

Saints Eagles will be a shootout but I think Brees has had years of practice at shootouts and will win something high scoring like 49-45

I expect the chiefs to go over the colts quite easily (but as a pats fan I'd prefer the opposite)

No idea for Dallas and the rams.

Patriots should be able for LAC, if for no other reason than it's the playoffs and in Bill we trust, but even without that on form the pats should have this one.

    Chiefs
    Rams
    Patriots
    Saints

The week off and home advantage should give these teams the edge. The Colts might upset the Chiefs but its unlikely. The Chargers are definitely a better team in terms of personnel than the Patriots but I expect Belicheck to have figured out a way to win this one with the extra time to prepare his team.

At the moment I am looking at

    Chiefs
    Rams
    Chargers
    Saints

Chiefs could easily end up in a similar situation to the Rams with no real defence and Luck/Mack/TY/Ebron being able to extend drives but I think the Chiefs have better weapons on offence and for me the difference maker here will be Tyreek Hill and his ability to make things happen. I feel like the Chiefs really need a win here and Mahomes will lead the way. 28- 20

I think Dallas will try to keep Goff off the field, feed Zeke , use Cooper extend drives on the ground with Prescott and sufficate a Rams team that hasn't quite put it together on D this year. With the exception of Gurley I am not sure the Rams offensive players are much better than this Dallas side but they do have more options the Dallas rush defence is good so might be able to limit Gurley's effectiveness on the other side the Rams rush defence isnt great so containing Zeke may be a problem. I think this one will be close as well. Something like 23-20

I couldnt call the Chargers Patriots game, it's in Foxboro, the Pats don't generally ever lose there so it's really difficult to see the Chargers coming away with a win but they have been doing it all year and with Ingram and Bosa I think the Chargers will get to Brady alot and that could be the difference. Just think the Chargers might shade it. 31 - 27

Philly and the Saints. Given what Trubisky/Robinson did to the young corners from Philly at times last week I think Bree's and Thomas/Kamara could shred them. The early game this year really is not an indicator as the Philly defence is much better now and the offence has been grinding, finding ways to get it done. It's difficult to see Foles being able to score enough here though to keep up with the Saints. So I think the Saints will just about get it done. 34 - 27

Four appetising games. A great time to be a football fan. All of the teams have great strengths and fairly obvious weaknesses, so who knows how it is going to go? I just hope I get left alone by my family enough to watch all the games.

I favour the home team in all four games, but it is fairly easy to see an upset in each of the away games. I think the Rams' offence has really slowed down recently, so I would have Dallas as the most likely team to upset the apple cart. I think the Saints are the safest bet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,457 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

    Colts
    Rams
    Patriots
    Saints

Reason I'm picking the Colts is that the Chiefs have only three good wins this season. They beat the Chargers in LA and the Steelers in Pittsburgh early in the season and then the Ravens in overtime at home.

The teams they've beat haven't been up to much with the Broncos x 2, Raiders x 2, Browns, Bengals, 49ers, Cards and Jags.
When you look at who has beaten them it makes much more interesting reading as they've lost to the Patriots, Rams, Seahawks and Chargers.

I think the home teams win the other three games. Eagles are a dark horse of course and the Chargers will certainly give the Patriots a run for their money.

I refuse to believe there's any neutrals watching that game in Foxboro.

3 out of 4 from last weekend's games.

    Colts
Rams(Come on LA do what seattle didn't)
Chargers(It's not a pick based on much other than I just have a feeling about the Chargers)
Eagles(I know but look what happened last weekend, but the Saints are a serious team)

I don't think ever in my life I have watched a game in almost any sport as a pure bred neutral. And if I have I can't remember.

Sure my team aren't playing but boy, I'll have a reason to pick one over the other no doubt.

Well I'll be shouting for somebody. I'll be shouting for the Colts to give the Patriots HFA should they beat the Chargers.
I'll be shouting for the saints because Drew Brees is my favourite player that's not a Patriot.
I'll be shouting for the Rams because I don't like Ezekiel Elliott or Jason Garrett.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,698 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

I mean okay fair enough I don't shout for the redskins, giants, and Cowboys in that order when it comes to the NFC East and fair enough in the Cowboys vs Rams game I hope the rams figuratively gut the Cowboys(at some point whatever Jason Garrett has over the Jones family loses it's value)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,834 ✭✭✭✭DvB

    Suspect it'll be:

    Colts v Patriots
    Rams v Eagles

    Hope it'll be:
    Chiefs v chargers
    Cowboys v Saints

Chiefs, Chargers, Rams and Saints to win

Chiefs Colts should be a great matchup, snow warnings in place as well which should throw a spanner in some gameplans.
Chargers have the talent, but Pats have the superior coaching so should make things interesting
Rams and saints both cooled off in the last few weeks making them hard to gauge but I reckon overall talent shines through. Dallas could cause some issues with that LB core shutting down Gurley, Eagles are in full backup QB run mode again but see both falling short.

3-1 last week but being somewhat boring here:

Chiefs - As I spoke about after the game last weekend, the Colts defense hasn't really been tested by an elite offense since they 'improved' and the well known issues with the Chief's defense means this will be a complete shoot out. I think home field advantage, including being outdoors in the cold, swings this for the Chiefs. Will feel more comfortable about this pick if Watkins can play a reasonable number of snaps.

Rams - The latest bye week comes at a good time for the Rams to regroup, which is interesting after the regular season bye really messed up their momentum. Seahawks played straight into the Cowboys hands last week and I see McVay testing them in very different ways, Rams taking the lead, and the Cowboys offense falling apart when Dak is forced to throw it (with a nice helping of Donald and Suh feasting).

Patriots - The Chargers have the better group of players but everything else is against them. Coming off going toe to toe with a monstrous Ravens team last week, flying coast to coast two weekends in a row, two 10am kick offs in a row, freezing cold weather expected coming from a warm climate, a loud stadium, opponents rested off a bye, their star running back with two injured knees, and facing one of the best coaches of all time who has the benefit of extra time to plan and game of film to watch. When you add all that being against them to their general flakiness there's only one winner here, even if it may come down to a final drive from Brady, where he ends up getting all the plaudits.

Saints - Right now I feel the Saints are the best team left in the playoffs and will target and test the Eagles weaknesses in a way the Bears didn't/couldn't last week. Again, being the road team and having the physical and emotional effort of last week will be too much for even the Eagles story to overcome. Won't be quite as bad a loss as earlier in the season but feel this will be the most one sided (even if there is a late rally in garbage time makes the scoreboard look better).

The Chargers have the most balanced team left - serious options on both offense and defense --- the differences in talent between them and the Pats is night and day... serious road form this season also - 8 - 1 I believe ...

    Chargers 3 - 34 Pats.

Chargers have an incredible habit of shooting themselves in the foot at the most inopportune times - however, much as I dislike Phillip Rivers, I would like nothing more this weekend than seeing him stuff the Pats.

That doesn't affect the Broncos in any way and the Chargers are divisional rivals.
You are pretty screwed up if you are shouting for a divisional rival to win a playoff game.

It really does. It's the patriots!

Unless it's the raiders I'm okay with my other 2 divisional rivals. Especially given how irrelevant they have been.

Well it's a one way thing then because I'd shout for the Broncos if they were facing the Dolphins, Jets or the Bills.
I'd shout for the Raiders over the Broncos though.

I think the snow is supposed to subside coming up around kick off at Arrowhead. Temperatures at around freezing or a little less.

Malik Hooker is out for the game which is huge against this Chiefs offence.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 854 ✭✭✭human 19

What I took away from last weekend was that most of the teams started in a much too conservative way. The Bears and the Texans left it way too late to play the football that got them this far. The Colts were the only ones that were on fire from the start.

I hope the Chiefs dont go the same way this week as I would like to see them in the conference decider.

I hope the Chargers go for it from the start 'cos the Pats wont be holding back

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,033 ✭✭✭irishrover99

Holy ****. Just seen the snow at arrowhead. If the colts can run the ball, they could have a chance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,698 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

That snow doesn't look like it's going to fully stop by game time in Kansas City from looking at Stacey dales instagram. It looks lighter but there looks like the snow is still falling.

I mainly , with some exceptions, prefer teams based on their loyalty to their area rather than what division they play in. As a Giants fan I have a lot of respect for the other teams in the division. Hell, I even like the Jets. I prefer them to other franchises like , for example the Titans, Rams, Chargers who move cities for business, or whatever reasons.

Good shout by the lads on the NBC pregame show. This is the best weekend of the playoffs. You have the four bye teams joining the mix and the four wild card winners who are on a roll from last week. Also, the team who holds onto the ball will have an advantage.
