Im kind of seeing a guy from Eastern Europe. My first big dirty foreigner it has to be said, but I'm quite enjoying it all the same.

There are some striking differences between him and Irish fellas who id be more used to.

    Whats your experience?

As an adult I had two American girlfriends and a Romanian girlfriend. Dated others including a Spanish woman, a Northern Irish woman and a Dutch lady.

No personality differences I'd attribute to nationality. With two of them there were issues with where each of us wanted to live and where we were legally allowed live. These are fundamental problems. Best not to get too involved with someone who cannot - or does not want to - live in the same place that you want to.

They have the option whether they want to be or not. Most don't want to be.

Rode a good few Brazilians and Aussies in my time. Perfect for that kind of stuff but would never have wanted to be with any of them long term.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Currently dating a Greek from the island of Kefalonia. I'd say there's definite differences in culture. For one Greek men from her island seem to treat the women less than idealy. A massive generalisation on my part but thrre's some very old fashioned elements at play. In fairness once marriage happens the men here seem to undergo something called "shaping" which is another word for being hen-pecked to death until you give in.

So, a bit like our ethnic cousins we have over here.

I went out with a girl from Dublin once, had the same problem with her. Would stick to my own kind now. A nice good midlands girl. Doubt I'd ever go foreign again after her.

Id agree with this too, communication is important in a relationship, having a language barrier really dosen't help.

I married a German. I briefly went out with a Belgian fella and I also went out with a Scottish guy. I've slept with a Polish guy and a Danish one. As for stereotypes, well the Scot was incredibly tight with money and the Polish guy complained a lot and definitely thought Poland was better than Ireland :p

My missus is a stereotypical German in some ways and not at all in others. She doesn't talk much and keeps her answers brief. She's chaotic and messy and sometimes late so not German in that sense! I like that she's direct and she tells me what she wants, as do her friends and family. I find socialising with Irish people a bit exhausting at times because of this social dance we do, saying we don't want a drink or something to eat even though we really do so it has to be pulled out of us. I enjoy the German sense of humour but the Irish one is great too, something unique about it.

I like honesty, which he is, but a bit too honest at the same time!

Language barrier isn't too much of an issue thankfully.

At times though it's just not the same as seeing an Irish fella

Think foreigners, particularly Americans, have a bit more confidence in themselves than the average Irish lass. From my own experience they've been easier to date initially because they'll happily take control and not just wait for you to make every move, which is nice as a guy. Irish women don't tend to do that, the responsibility usually lies on the guy to make all the moves and arrange everything etc. which can be very frustrating and anxiety inducing at times.

That said in the long term, again, from my own experiences, the more laid back personalities of Irish girls tends to shine through. Less drama.

No.. I've worked with lots over the years but never gone out with any. Language, sense of humour, local nuances and so on are just too big of an obstacle.

Prefer the Irish girls, although I was briefly seeing a NI girl at one stage (we'll leave the "is she Irish" debate above aside) and LOVED the accent! :D

(pity she tuned out to be engaged.. oh well...... )

I think the exact opposite .Find Irish girls far more dramatic ,false and egotistical than any other nationalities Ive being involved with.

Yeah it depends, this one girl i dated when i was 18 (From limerick) started off fine but then her mom started making demands from me (i was 18 and still in school) like i was 30 and practicing medicine or something.

The attitude stuck with her and we broke up. Then she broke up with 5 other guys after that. No ones ever good enough.

This other girl i dates from wales is id say the best girl ive ever met, we’re still friends til this day. Just a really sunny and bright girl.

This other girl from south dublin was pretty egotistical though if say thats more from the environment. Being from south dublin myself id probably date girls from outside the city

What cultural differences did you find between yourself and the Brit? I've been over here around 10 years and I find the cultures extremely similar.

I was doing a line with a girl from St Johns wood in London many moons ago. Very cultured and easy on the eye but very materialistic. Mate married a Latvian and she's brilliant.
