I'm on my second phone with this issue, different manufacturers, which is why I haven't posted in a model specific thread.

First time I came across it was a Samsung last year , now a Huawei. Within WhatsApp the default WhatsApp tone does not appear in the list of available ringtones on the phone.

It seems to be a common issue, but one I haven't seen a standard reason or solution for.

Has anyone come across this and resolved it? Like Pavlov's dog I'm accustomed to the standard WhatsApp tone over the years.

Nokia 7 plus user. The default is there for mine. I've a vague recollection of it happening before on a JIayu S3. Not sure if it got updated and sorted itself.

It's something I'm hoping for, a self resolution. Works fine on a Moto G I have, tone doesn't appear on the other two. I can even pick the Viber tone for it if I wanted.

One thing I just thought of. Is the default tone not based on the phones default tones?

I looked into that, but it's not even listed unlike the Viber default tone, so even if I wanted to I couldn't make it the default tone across the board on either phone.

It's like it's in a format that can't be read by either Samsung's or Huawei's OS, or just not installed.
