I'm with eir, and in an area with fibre broadband.

The problem is that about 10 every day, the internet will cut out completely for abour 2-3 minutes at a time. I can see the modem, and the DSL and internet lights will suddenly go black. After a minute or so, the DSL light will return, first flashing, then stable, and then the internet light will return also.

I live on an estate and nobody else seems to have the same problem, so I'm trying to work out what the problem could be. Can anybody suggest anything?

I've had eir tech staff out before as the internet went completely. They said it was a loose wire, and I assumed they fixed it. The same regular but short-lasting outages were there before that, and are continuing after it.

Assume you have copper line into house?

Unplug everything from the main phone socket and plug in a phone to check if there's a dial tone and whether there's other noise, eg scratching or ticking.
