    Hi people,

I need some good advice. Yesterday I tore my calf muscle whilst playing 5-a-side football when it happened it felt like somebody shot me something I had never experienced in all my days playing football.
I decided to go to the ED after I got home and had an X-ray now the Doctor has referred me to the fracture clinic on Monday, now am in abit of a dilemma because as am due to fly Sunday evening to join my wife and kids who is with her family but now the doctor when asked is advising against this since I could develop a blood clot at high altitude, I really don't know what to do because despite this they are telling me to come as am kind of here on my own?
    Any advice is much appreciated
    Thanks

You're pretty much looking for medical advice but if you want to fly, then ask a doctor - your own or a different one - what precautionary measures you can put in place to allow you to fly.

They're obliged to warn you of the risks but if you feel not flying isn't an option, then ask what you can do to mitigate the risk.

Will you take the advise of someone on here rather than a medical doctor who has advised you not to fly given your injury?

I think you're crazy if you're going to ignore a doctors advice for something annon from the internet will tell you.

Not offering you medical advice but if I was going to ignore my doc (which I wouldn't in this instance) I'd buy some flight socks in Boots (or any pharmacy) for €18:99 as a precaution.

Mod: You've already sought advice from a medical professional. Asking strangers on the internet for a different opinion is dangerous as best. Listen to your doctor.
