This is not a question so I didn't know where to put it. Is there a general Running Related thread? If so, a mod can merge at some stage.

So, everyone's favourite female 400 metre runner of all time, Allyson Felix, has become a Mammy. Kept it extremely quiet and it seems there were complications. Baby delivered very early and still in Intensive Care. Some strange comments and angles on why she didn't tell people.........

I enjoyed this comment from her brother though when she told him and her coach about the pregnancy after a couple of slow races.

"It was time to tell them what was really going on.

I was pregnant.

Wes was like, "I'm so glad you're not just slow!"

On a more personal note. I model my 400 metre rep running style on Felix. That's what I tell myself when I start each rep. Relax, run like A Felix. After about 10 metres I decide to run like her Mum and for the last 80 metres I switch to Grandma Felix gait. It works for me.

Wayde Van Niekerk's first race back in 17 months after an ACL rupture was strange. Ran 47.28 but unlike any 47 400 I've ever seen. He's in the goldish singlet in lane 4 walking out of the blocks.

Missed this article by Cathal Dennehy but it's quote of the day on Letsrun today. Really good read about Shane Healy's life and road to athletics and and then starting up again as a masters athlete who broke the Irish over-50 National record in the Armagh 5k 2 weeks ago with a 15:20. Cracking read!

Maybe it's the wine, but heck that's a bloody great read. 15.20 for the 5k........ Hope he doesn't move up to 'my' distances!

He wasn't celebrating early (or at least, he didn't think he was). You don't see it very clearly in the video, but they had just passed under a gantry that looked a lot like a finish line. The whole race organisation seems to have been a very amateur attempt, despite the elite field and massive prize money
