Not sure if this is exactly the right forum for it, or if this is a new feature or not (I've certainly never noticed it before anyway) but leading on from this thread, when I click the link, it's giving me an option to buy at 0% interest over x 5 months.

Might come in handy for a few lads.

the German site is offering 12 months 0% credit too....presumably to German residents only

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,516 ✭✭✭Wheety

Yeah, they're offering finance so I think you have to be UK resident?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,365 ✭✭✭✭McMurphy

    UK residents

I don't think so, the only restriction I faced at all was something about currency converter.

Switched my payment method to my revolut card and I could go the whole way through to actually order.

Out of interest, what did you buy that had this option?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,365 ✭✭✭✭McMurphy

    Just to be clear folks.

I ordered stuff via revolut and to PW (One of the items won't officially ship here) and had zero probs.

I test it out later direct to my Irish address.

    Hmmmm

Only thing I can this of is that I have a PW address registered, and also got customer service to set My prime region to the U.K ages ago though.

I just ordered a Pocophone under the finance option. 5 x payments of 62£.

    Anyone else able to confirm?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,870 ✭✭✭✭fritzelly

Surely this is underwritten by some company?
If so once they see a non residential address it will be refused?

They’ve hundreds of billions in the bank. No reason for them not to do it themselves

I ordered a projector with this on black Friday, I originally ordered to my Irish address and they accepted the order but I changed it to PW because it arrived a week earlier and was a bit cheaper with the VAT. I'd say it is only offered to people who have a UK address as their billing address, I use my PW one to get the UK prime video.

Gone from my revolut straight away under installments.

If it's eligible for a finance option it will be displayed under the price.

    Fairly random it seems.

Also a few items that had originally been offering me finance now aren't.

    Glitch perhaps?

They must have got accredited in the uk, can't just offer credit nilly willy, it's regulated. don't see how that could work in ireland tho

There was a big thread on hukd a week or two back. It was pretty random in terms of who was eligible with the majority of users being from the UK.
I'd says it's on some sort of trial basis with users selected randomly to a degree.

Seems a similar set up to QVC easy pay, I've used that a good few times. Just pay over 3 or 4 instalments.

Not seeing it all (using the examples here)
Have pM as billing and postal address

I got 2 Echo Dots and a Fire Stick using this during their Black Friday deals. UK billing address and sent to my Irish address.

Even with a UK billing address it selected customers only, one of the conditions said your account needs to have been active for over a year for example but there were a lot more conditions in it. It is supposed to be for UK residents only.

Yeah, I'm all Uk setup - card/prime/region UK/billing address etc
    I must be a risk! :)
No bother, it's just intersting to see how it's offered.

Haven't a clue how it's selected, seems to be extremely random, and yesterday was the first time I ever noticed these offers.

To save Any one else looking, these things don't seems to have any finance offered.

    Nvidia Shield.
    4K tvs
    PlayStation
    Xbox ones.
    Air fryer

So, I'm wondering if what's on offer via 0% finance is products they can deactivate remotely if you don't pay?

E.g.. So.far I have ordered a Pocophone, which prob can be blocked via the IME no, and fire sticks are also available under finance option, again Amazon can prob make these useless on there end if you fail to stick to the agreement?

Just purchased the Huawei 115016.0 Stainless Steel Classic Smartwatch on instalments. All I had to do was change my card to STG for payment, this was done at the checkout stage. Irish card, irish address :)

Weird, a few weeks ago I could see this offer on most smartphones - now I don't see it on anything

I've a feeling your billing address might drive if you're offered it, or not

    but i stand corrected

Strange! I just tried it again and the option is no longer there. I even tried logging out of my Amazon account and using the link from their email as I did this morning but still do not get the option again

I was the same as this.

Could it be a case that as you've already gotten it via 0% finance, They won't let you buy same again?

I mean, surely it's capped otherwise sure you could potentially order phones all day worth 000£s while only having to pay one payment up fromt?

    Just noticed the small print....

    • This offer applies only to qualifying new products (including new or certified refurbished Amazon devices) sold and shipped by Amazon EU Sarl, when purchased in several “monthly payments” where such option is available on the product detail page.
    • This offer applies to one qualifying product in each product category or Amazon device family (as applicable) in your basket at time of checkout, and is limited to one active enrollment per product category or Amazon device family per customer. Fire tablets, Kindle e-readers, Amazon Fire TV, and Alexa-enabled devices (Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, and Amazon Tap) are each an "Amazon device family". Wireless products are an example of a "product category".
    • To be eligible for this offer, you must reside in the United Kingdom, your Amazon.co.uk account must have been active for at least one year, you must have a valid credit card associated with your Amazon.co.uk account, and you must have a good payment history on Amazon.co.uk.
    • Offer good while supplies last. We reserve the right to cancel this offer at any time.
    • You will be charged the full price (including VAT) of the qualifying device you selected (the “Device”) in five equal monthly payments (provided that if the full price is not evenly divisible by five, your final payment amount may be smaller). No interest or finance charges apply to this offer. Any interest, finance charges or fees assessed by the issuer of the payment method to which payments are charged may still apply. Any fee related to the order (such as shipping and/or giftwrapping charges) will be due and assessed in full as part of your initial payment when you check out. Your payment schedule is:

    Second Payment

60 Days from the Shipment Date

    Third Payment

90 Days from the Shipment Date

    Fourth Payment

120 Days from the Shipment Date

    • You authorize us to charge each payment to the credit card you use to make your initial payment. If we are unable to complete a charge using your chosen payment card, you authorize us to charge a payment to any other payment card we have on file in your Amazon.co.uk account. You agree to maintain in your Amazon.co.uk account at least one valid payment card that expires no earlier than 20 days after your last payment due date.
    • You may prepay the full remaining balance of your purchase at any time, but you may not prepay a portion of the remaining balance.
    • If we are not able to charge any payment to a card on file in your Amazon.co.uk account, our remedies will include the right to deregister your Device, which will block your ability to access Amazon content from this Device. We may also suspend or terminate your Amazon.co.uk account. You agree that we and our affiliates have no liability related to the exercise of these remedies.

Christ it's longer than the Bible

    Lengthy alright :D

Just read the bolded parts though, clear up why some of us are being offered it, others aren't, and the possible repercussions if you fail to stick to the agreement.

It's very odd and random by the looks of it!
I'm just curious how and why it works.
Maybe if you already have Amazon devices registered to your account it blocks you? Mine are registered as UK and always have been

I have all of the requirements bar living in the UK and I see nothing
