hi, I have changed the roller blinds in my sitting room and bought new one's.

I need to next update the kitchen, however I have deep set window sills (thick walls) as I live in an old cottage and these then to end up as an extra work counter and the blinds can get grubby.

I can't put up curtains either as there is no gap between ceiling and top of window...so the blind is the main source of privacy/keep heat in..

I was thinking of installing venetian blinds in wood/pvc, might be easier to keep, but will it look odd from the outside, two different styles of blinds?

I have different blind styles on different windows, and no-one has ever commented on them

I have venetian in the sitting room, and blackout thermal blinds in the room above them.

For the kitchen you're describing, you could consider PVC roller blinds with a thermal backing/layer. They'd be easier to wipe down, and add some heat.

If you still want curtains, one option is to hang the pole down from the ceiling (instead of the more traditional "out from the wall", provided the ceiling can support the weight.

I don't really want to spend a lot of money on blinds. The new one's I bought are from The Range, cheap and cheerful but fresh & clean. They don't stock PVC. Is there any online shop who sell cheap PVC we can install ourselves you can recommend?

Our ceilings are timber cladded. Don't want to drill into them as it might destroy them (plus we are renters, landlord might not be happy!

I'm starting to question myself whether PVC is the right term, but if you search Amazon for "bathroom roller blinds" you get a bunch of options - basically they're designed for high moisture/humidity areas, and usually wipe clean, like this one:

I know what you're on about. I never knew such as thing existed until last year when I was in a blind shop and the sales person was showing me wipeable blinds! but his prices were beyond my budget. I'll do a google and see. thanks.

How do you find opening the windows with the deep sills? For me who has the same sills, I find it's a bit of ordeal and often wondered is there some sort of contraption out there to make it easier to reach and open the window?
