It think it's easier to manage discussion of the 3 episode crossover in one thread (it'll be too confusing to follow the three separate show threads).

    Elseworlds 1 (The Flash) - Sunday 9th
    Elseworlds 2 (Arrow) - Monday 10th
    Elseworlds 3 (Supergirl) - Tuesday 11th

New DC characters who are going to turn up include
    Batwoman
    ,
    Lois Lane
    ,
    Mrs. Freeze
    ,
    The Monitor
    and
    Doctor Destiny

    Returning characters -
    Superman
    and
    Earth 2 Jay Garrick

    as I was saying
I believe Bat Woman has her own show dropping soon , I wonder if they use elseworlds 4 as her pilot ?

Yeah the crossover is a backdoor pilot for Batwoman

    That's not
    Earth 2 Jay Garrick
    , it's the
Flash from the 90's show which is Earth 90

    This should explain more

Did last night's Supergirl set it up at all? It's the only one I don't watch

Only with that scene I posted earlier on

Ah, I didn't watch it before posting as thought it was a trailer for Elseworlds. Not watching trailers or reading spoilers.
Wonder if Flash and Arrow will have something as well

They will probably show the same trailer at the end of this week's episode.

Honestly can't wait for it. I still religiously watch Legends of Tomorrow because its just f**king amazing, but completely understand why the Legends aren't involved in this years crossover. I dropped both Supergirl, The Flash, and Arrow last season - there's just not enough time in the week, but recently dove back in to Arrow because I heard there was a huge improvement this season and that it was firing on all cylinders - it really is!

Crisis On Earth X was one of the best televisual events of last year and I'm glad the producers are aware enough to keep these crossovers more or less self contained and that I won't have to know what is currently going down in The Flash or Supergirl to enjoy this one...

Arrow had the same one at the end that Eoin posted above.

So with this starting tonight in the US, how are people planning to watch the crossover. All three episodes together or as they air?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,564 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

As it's nightly, I'll watch nightly. If it was weekly, I would probably wait.

Yeah I'm planning to watch in the morning before going to work each day so I won't have to try and avoid spoilers for the whole day.

Approximately 15 minutes after each episode finishes airing... ;)

Part 1 was pretty sweet, especially the whole
Smallville (right down to the theme song)
bit and also I completely forgot that
we're going to f**king Gotham City tomorrow!!! - can't wait for that
, but it mostly just served as a set up for the next two nights, which is fine.

One thing that I found really annoying though is
Team Flash sh*tting all over Oliver Queen as if he's some amoral assh*le and beneath them in some way. Maybe it's because I don't watch The Flash anymore, but I actually found all of that show's characters (except maybe Caitlin) to be pretty grating. Arrow, Supergirl and Superman were all great though.

Yeah great first episode.I watch The Flash and
the cast definitely didn't act like their usual selves
    .

    Love that Barry
finally got Oliver back for the Crossbows in the back from the first Crossover
and it looks like Batwoman is from Earth
    1

Can't wait for tomorrow's episode but the Legends of Tomorrow episode looks just as good even though it's not part of Elseworlds

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Really enjoyed that and also know why I stopped watching the Flash fcuking Iris.

For a split second I thought we might see Smallville Clark or Chloe then I remembered Tom ate his own body weight and Alison is now a in jail for being nuts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,564 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Having the Smallville theme was great.
And the wee comment from Ralph
    "it's not even Tuesday"

Team Flash really weren't acting like themselves. With everything that has happened to them, why couldn't they just believe Oliver and Barry. Or go with the old reliable "Ask me something only Barry would know" test.

Strange setup though. Guy is given all that power and the only thing he seems to use it for is to make Oliver and Barry swap places?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,462 Mod ✭✭✭✭Axwell

It wasnt just the Smallville theme, they used the exact same location. Its the same house and farm etc too.

    Jaw dropped when
    smallville theme played

Ok, so Part 2 was a lot better (not that the first part was bad or anything) as there was quite a few more " I Completely Geeked Out At That" moments...

First off, I really hope we get to see
a Batwoman/Kate Kane Spinoff (I think this was supposed to be serving as a sort of backdoor pilot for her) and Ruby Rose was just amazing as was this version of Gotham City with an MIA Batman

Secondly, Oh My God! Are we about to see a
Earth 90 version of Diggle as the Green Lantern and does that mean that our Diggle could potentially become Earth 1 Green Lantern?

    As for the surprise
cameos, I remember seeing that John Barrowman would be back for Elseworlds a while back, but I completely forgot about it, so was pleasantly thrilled to see Malcolm Merlyn pop up... Twice!

This crossover has also served to remind me how much I like Kara and Caitlin...

Caitlin is really the only Flash character (including Barry) that I have any time for anymore and I'd love to see her move to Legends or Arrow because I still watch those, and don't have any desire to go back to The Flash any time soon.

And as for Kara, I actually still like all the other Supergirl characters (except maybe Jimmy Olsen - is he still as bland as ever?) and think I only stopped watching because I had too many shows on the go, but think I might dive back in to that show over the holidays. Stopped about halfway through last season - those who are up to date on Supergirl, how is it faring these days? Worth going back to?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 48,990 ✭✭✭✭Lithium93_

I think this might be the best crossover to date.

I don't think it's at Season 1 quality, but it's better than Season 2. Sam Witwer and Nicole Maines have been strong additions to the cast, and Brainiac is better comic relief than Winn.

The first half of the season had a great xenophobic/racism arc, so it'll be interesting to see what they do with the other half. They're juggling a few other balls that are still up in the air
    Lena's experiments, evil Supergirl
    . I'd say give it a go.

Whoever they got to play Batgirl might just be the most wooden actress ever she makes Amell look like De Niro at least Ameel has the charisma to pull it off.

Other than Batgirl I really enjoyed it and loved the Easter egss all over the place.

Huge geek out with the mention
of John not wearing the ring. Has to be the Green Lantern
    .

Ruby Rose is playing Batwoman not Batgirl. The Diggle thing is
probably related to a fan hope from years ago that his real name is John Stewart who is a Green Lantern in the comics

Batgirl batwoman doesn’t take away she can’t act for sh2t.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,564 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

Think that's the most fun this show has been in a long time.
Ollie getting worked up about Batman being fake and Arrow being the original vigilante was entertaining.

Was that meant to be Psycho Pirate or Anarky?

Kinda disappointed Ivy didn't get fighting Caitlin, with Danielle having experience with plant powers.

    Edit: seems it was Pirate

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Just watched the two episodes back to back. I'm exhausted. :)

Ruby Rose is pretty, but pretty wooden.
Oliver being happy and Barry being gruff is disconcerting.
Some really funny dialog too - the writers did a great job with this.

    Looking forward to part 3!

Pity to hear Rose is poor, but I had suspected this may be the case, she has been bloody awful in everything else I'd seen her in. Do we know for sure batwoman is getting her own series?

Ok, the final part was just amazing from start to finish. Also, clearly the best moment was

I enjoyed that. One thing that irritated me though - if Barry was going mach 7 around the earth, why was he running down the same street the whole time? :o

I'd prefer a Tyler Hoechlin Superman show to a Batwoman show too...

The actress that played Lois wants a Superman spinoff too. They could set the show
in Argo with them raising their kid ,hopefully Jon Kent (Superboy)

    Also the whole
turning a piece of coal into a diamond for an engagement ring
, was copied straight from Smallville.

    Oliver definitely
sacrificed something to save Barry and Kara
, what I've seen online by a few people is
that he will die in the next crossover but I doubt it

    Also with
    Crisis on Infinite Earths
happening in the Fall, does this mean that it will air first which would lead to the shows dealing with the fallout of the
    Crisis

Yep the show starts filming next year and cast calls have gone for characters. I thought Batwoman was okay she was not meant to be a big part just a small plot point as they were going to Gotham it was a get in show you exist and leave part.. Wouldn't write it off for that

+1000 She must have one helluva agent behind her, because I really can't see any other reason for her popularity for casting directors.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

To backtrack a little, she was memorable in John Wick 2, but literally didn't open her mouth (character was deaf) so 100% of her presence was the aesthetics of her appearance - androgynous tomboy model with tattoos.

And that is why she has gotten the role in my opinion.

The CW is Open To All

Indeed you're probably not far off, and there's nothing wrong with that ostensibly. Inclusion means more varied and interesting stories to tell, Supergirl being the most overt / unsubtle on that front (of the DC material).

I suppose no more than in the 80s-90s, when requirements for a black lead actor meant Eddie Murphy or Denzil Washington's agents got phone-calls, Ruby Rose is now the 'token' LGBTQ-tomboy-female goto.

Just a shame she has all the charisma of a brick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,710 ✭✭✭✭Skerries

this actually the first thing I have seen Ruby Rose not using her native aussie accent

Superman did it in Superman III as well. Probably did it in comics before that. And notice Lois's outfit at the end looked very similar to the one worn by Lois in Superman when she first flew with Superman.

As for Oliver, one theory I saw was
He sacrificed his relationship with Felicity, similar to the One More Day story in Spider-Man. Though that doesn't seem like balance.

I liked the Crisis comics reference with
Flash and Supergirl destined to die

So announcing this crossover so early, are they effectively guaranteeing renewals for all the DC shows?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,285 ✭✭✭✭RobbingBandit

What did Oliver do he has made a deal that will duck things up. Superman has too by doing what he did someone is going to show up sooner or later loved that original Flash was from Earth 90 the era of his show they've thought of everything for the Earth reference numbers.

Batwoman was drab to say the least very disappointed Cisco was bloody great in part 3 he is a good bad guy. I really hope Diggle has a middle name as he really does fit the MO for who he was referred to as in this crossover.

Really hope they can wrangle Bruce Wayne into things too for the crossover next year maybe Aquaman and Wonder Woman too but that's overkill still can't get the damn Smallville theme out of my head now neither. Top 3 crossover last year's was better but Batwoman aside this was great.

Not necessarily. They could still cancel Arrow (for example) and still have him show up in the crossover, depending on where they leave the character. They could also cancel all the shows and have a Crisis Mini-Series (even up to 13 episodes, including all the major characters from the cancelled series'). It's unlikely and I imagine they're all a shoe in for renewal to be fair, just because CW are really good at announcing well in advance when a long running show (3 seasons or more) is going to end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,571 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Imagine if they took a break from the main shows in December and did a limited series of 9 or 12 episodes (3 a week for 3 or 4 weeks). That would be incredible and it would give the crossover room to breathe.

They don't need to cancel any shows - just pause them early.

It would be a ratings behemoth.

That would actually be amazing. If they cut all the regular runs of the shows back to about 16 episodes (which would be a good idea anyway and improve the quality of all the individual shows) then budge-wise they could actually be able to pull off a Crisis On Inifinite Earths mini-series.
