Just throwing this out about exam grades with Rock and Pop - under the Trinity London syllabus. Are these exam grades of any real value to a student - they cost a lot of money for a short test that may only take about 20mins and it can cost from €50 grade 1 to €120 for grade 8 - a lot of learning is done online now and…

Just throwing this out about exam grades with Rock and Pop - under the Trinity London syllabus.

Are these exam grades of any real value to a student - they cost a lot of money for a short test that may only take about 20mins and it can cost from €50 grade 1 to €120 for grade 8 - a lot of learning is done online now and teachers can be on the other side of the planet - are these graded exams worth the money and effort

I understand the best way to learn is get out there and play with other musicians - do the practical skills and learn to read music on the side bar

I am just curios to see how other musicians view the Rock and Pop exams
