    https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/news/watch-shocking-moment-brawl-breaks-out-in-hotel-at-fight-night-kickboxing-event-37540248.html
One person was hospitalised after a mass brawl broke at a kickboxing event at a hotel in Co Clare on Saturday night.
Gardai are investigating the brawl during which chairs and bottles were used as weapons.

Shocking video footage of the incident was posted on social media showing the vicious altercation.

The shocking violence erupted at the Oakwood Hotel in Shannon, Co Clare at around 11pm last night.

Over a dozen people were directly involved in the violence in front of shocked punters.

    Let's embrace their culture

I am actually envious of these culturally enriched people. They get to do what they want, where they want and still get to drive around in brand new BMWs.

I think you'll find it's more Japanese culture than Irish culture. Irish may partake in it but it's hardly our culture, even if specific cultural groups may be more prevalent in the 'sport' than others.

I presume 'culture' referred to the riot and not the kickboxing event...

I thought they were in to bare knuckle boxing not kickboxing, but sure what do I know.

But anyway, I suppose no media outlet will say they were Travellers. Were they?

They certainly were, 2 traveller families. Ruined a local kickboxing event which was due to include a world title fight.

I think you like Traveller mayhem,

Most people don't. But are sometimes afraid to say it out loud.

But if you are in favour of Traveller mayhem and all that, perhaps you could justify it for the majority who absolutely hate them with a passion, for their intrusion in our lives with no consequences, due to their ethnic status.

Casey was absolutely right IMV. Equality for all :p

I doubt you will get any infractions yourself, being a former Mod and all that.

But answer the question anyway. Doubt you can ever justify Traveller culture, but I am sure you might try.

What are the benefits to us all. Qui bono, just in case you don't speak English. lol.

    Infraction for what exactly?

I'm stuggling to understand you, you aren't making much sense.

Why would I justify it? Why do you think I like traveller mayhem?

They literally said nothing to indicate they like traveller mayhem. Your post above has a fair bit of snideness but no reason for it.

I'm highly critical of traveller culture by the way.

    Right.

Most people detest Travellers who cause mayhem. discuss.

Is that topic not being discussed on this thread and a number of other ones of late?

To be absolutely fair, and at the risk of being lambasted here, my first thought wasn't travellers in this instance. Majority of the stupid brawls, at anywhere that serves alcohol in my area, are not caused by travellers. Just drunken, small minded idiots.

Yes, the travellers have caused their fair share of bother, but it would be rare a brawl in the middle of an event like this would be caused by them.

In fairness kickboxing is an absolute joke of a sport when it comes to sanctioning bodies, there's so many "world championship" titles floating around these days they are impossible to keep track of, even for the bodies supposidly edorsing the titles. They're about as useful as an ECDL in this day and age, you could stick it on your CV and it would be near impossible for someone to prove you a liar.

Stop the lights, nearly every Siam Warriors fight night in Cork would feature a massively important World Title fight. In a three star hotel. In Cork.

That's not what the poster said at all.

He didn't ask if Travellers were involved; he asked if the media would acknowledge that the rioters were Travellers.

We are now witnessing politically correct self-censorship by the media. They can't report openly on Traveller violence and mayhem for fear of being branded racist for criticizing a recognized ethnic minority.

Read the article in the OP. The word "Traveller" does not appear -- just as it does not appear either in reports on the recent violent feuding in Drogheda, in which Travellers are also heavily involved.

The press rarely report rural crime perpetrated by travellers as such, they get around it by calling them travelling crime gangs.

This is true, it was the settled people that started it and the travellers were trying to stop it. Completely the fault of the settled people....
