Recently I have been searching up on google what might cause a protruding chest. I used to weigh about 220 lbs, so I thought maybe the weight loss could have done it, but I now realize that it seems to be pectus Carinatum. I have seen people on youtube (mainly doctors) say that a brace is the best option. I was wondering if workout out can help with this? I don't do much chest workouts. Although lately, I have been. I have only recently been doing bench presses & dumbbell chest presses. Do you think working out the chest more will help or would i need to visit a doctor to see?

Here are two photos to give you an idea of what the situation is.

As you could imagine it's quite embarrassing for me. It's not something that i have ever noticed until recently. I couldn't remember if it was like this before i put on so much weight 3 - 4 years ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

That doesnt look anything like pectus carinatum.

If you wish to have your mind put at rest see your GP. But those photos are quite normal.

I hope it isn't. Maybe it is because I usually never done chest exercises. I always focused on other things during weight loss. I will go to see a GP soon. Thanks for the peace of mind!

Given your post history it would probably be a good idea for you to talk to your GP about your feelings of negativity towards your body generally.

You might have a bit of excessive worry there that is making you think perfectly ordinary things are abnormal.

Itd be a good idea to talk it out with your GP, put your mind at ease generally and maybe get some suggestions for how to deal with anxiety about your appearance etc...

I do appreciate that. I have always pushed off seeing a GP. I really shouldn't. I worry too much and I am really better off just seeing somebody about it. Thanks a lot dude!

You know what? We ALL worry too much from time to time. Its just part of the human condition. But it hits some people more than others and its one of those things that if you just ignore it, it can get worse again.

So you are always better off having a chat to your doc about it. Ive gone through periods of excessive worrying myself and I would never hesitate to chat to my doc about it. Sometimes even just talking about it makes me mindful enough to recognise that its just my mind messing with me.

Best of luck, Im sure youll be grand.
