    This follows the draft which was published in the Spring and followed up by a get together in the Aviva in May and a Consultation process.

    Very conservative which is not particularly surprising but worth a read as is the 'Statement of Outcomes' which accompanies it:

    So basically a new national FM station is approved on condition that it shows it can be profitable! How many stations currently on air are on profit?

    indeed it's absolutely ridiculous. profitability or not should be absolutely none of a broadcasting regulator's business. content and monitoring compliance with the broadcasting codes is what should be their remit. i see no reason why they shouldn't approve this proposed national station. if it fails, then the market has determined that it's not viable, as it should be for commercial broadcasting.
    unfortunately a market driven model is not something we will ever get, the protectionist model is the only show in town.
