Your best bet would be to contact your local butcher shop, one that kills their own animals or get their own animals killed in a small abattoir. If they don't do the killing themselves, they might be able to direct you to someone who does.

Failing that, an older neighbour might know someone who kills their own poultry.

Can you not just break their necks like a chicken or turkey?

Similar to post above, ask an older neighbour to do it for you either.

Butcher or turkey farmer, they may show you how to do it yourself then as well

How does that go, like a karate chop kind of move or what?

You could always try the Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique

Or if you haven't perfected that, hang upside down and pull down on their head to dislocate and separate their head from their neck. Well you don't pull the head right off, although occasionally it happens..........and is very messy when it does so you try not to. I've seen an ould fella in his 80's do it for smaller turkeys by holding their legs in one hand and grabbing their necks with another and stretching. Fair enough to do that with a chicken, but you wouldn't normally see people doing it with a turkey

Fair enough. Not sure why I'd make it up and attribute it to an ould fella though. The man won't do it now because he's dead. It's about 20 years ago that I saw him doing it.

Cheers for all the help lads, I tried a few butchers in Kilorglin, Killarney and kenmare but no one's doing it any more, health and safety bull I spose. Not a hope I'm doing it myself, dirty oul job.
I'd kill them alright but the thought of severed duck heads and feet would put me off eating them.

Here's one from Youtube using a traffic cone, right up to the point of killing it.

And here's one on turkeys which I imagine would be similar.

There will be more there when you search which should help.

Turkeys are easier than chickens and ducks as they have a weak point in their neck. Try asking whoever you bought them off if they know anybody

Would you have a go your self its not that difficult a small hatchet and a block of wood outside, its over in seconds and hang them up by back legs and pluck away. Not much in a duck not worth paying someone a tenner for a job you can do yourself.

Sell the ducks - should be worth about E60

Buy a couple of oven ready free range ducks - around E80 - 100

You'll end up spending the same as you will pay someone if you do find someone to butcher them.

The country is gone soft.a “butcher” who can’t kill a duck.ffs.theyre no more butchers them lads then I’m the emperor of China.
If you want to do it yourself get a traffic cone and screw it to a wall upside down without the square black weight.you don’t need all of it cut it in half if you want.when secured to the wall put the duck into it upside down and pull its head out the bottom which would be the small hole on the top of the cone when used as a traffic cone.
Leave it there for a few seconds until it relaxes and then cut its neck.have a bucket under it.they won’t flap in the cone and they relax upside down.

Irish lads are gone soft, do you know any eastern European lads used to do a bit of butchering around these parts one time, there were even good enough to leave the flease aftee them.

No invicta that's not how it's done actually, you obviously have never killed a turkey or even seen it done.

I rear and kill my own turkeys every year, I also rear and kill chickens, ducks and geese.

Now while I do stretch a chickens neck in the manner described I wouldn't attempt it with a turkey.

    Traffic cone method.

It's quick, safe and the bird doesn't suffer stress or pain.

Used to kill turkeys myself, sit on old stool, lay kneck on the floor, sweeping brush handle
across behind head, hold feet in right hand, control wings with left hand, never pulled head off, broken skin once, crack neck and control bird for a few seconds, then pluck pronto. Haven't done it for a few years. We'd just crack the kneck of a chicken by hand, we had ducks and but can't remember how we despatched them, must be getting old.
One old lady tried to kill a chicken for Sunday dinner, tied it to front gate, gave it a swipe of the knife, happy out, chicken fell off gate, went into house to wash blood off knife, when she came out she nearly fainted, chicken standing on gate 😂

Haven't killed fowl in years but ducks were dispatched by hanging upside down by the legs and slicing with a knife at the back of the neck just where it meats the head, by all accounts wouldn't bleed properly by just pulling the head.

Turkeys by tying both legs together, about six inches apart, and pulling the neck with the brush handle method and hanging promptly on a hook suspended from a rafter. It's important to hang and let the wings flap away unimpeded as that prevents bruising and helps the blood drain down into the head.
Pluck away while still warm, it's easier then. Purge when plucked.

    So did I!

Unless a turkey was over 28-30 lbs, I have no problem pulling their necks
Once you take the turkey and turn upside down, the bird will automatically tilt it’s head to its weakest point, then just lean down on it parallel with its neck with your thumb and forefinger behind its ears—-
    TRY THAT SOMETIME

Turn it upside down, catch the legs in your left hand with the turkey’s back against your right thigh,do the deed. The wing flapping will then be away from you,and you will not break the wings!

Any big turkey you could hang up and do the same thing, very big turkeys can be easly dispatched by holding the bird (a leg in each hand with his back to your knees) while someone puts a brush handle or crowbar over his neck, then just take two small steps forward and hold on for dear life!

Yeah, I still don't understand your issue with it. I didn't recommend trying it that way. Just said I saw an ould fella do it once that way on a couple of small turkeys
I had not seen it done like that before. Nor since to be honest, but I saw him do a few that day.

He wasn't killing all the birds. Just did that a few times when some of the pluckers were a bit backed up waiting on the "official" fella killing. They were telling him not to be doing it but sure he was happy out.

When you turn the Turkey up side down it stops fighting as the blood rushes to its head. If you try and snap the neck without knowing how to do it, it is tough work but if you know how it is simple. Leave them hanging upside down after snapping their neck and the blood drains to their head and it swells up, you should leave it hanging for a couple of days.

Never had to kill a duck, most small animals the most humane way is a stun and cervical dislocation if there is no specialist technique or equipment. I imagine if you can get a good arch to swing, grab by the legs, swing in a wide arc as fast as possible and strike the head off the corner of a table, then as quickly as possible either dislocate the neck using a freezer scraper, place at the back of the neck while face down, hold firm, grab the legs and lift the body upwards as quickly as possible, as sharply as possible. If you have done it correctly you should be able to feel the table through the skin of the neck the whole way across. If you are not confident of strength, and don't mind the mess, a small hatchet. You should have a few seconds after the strike where the animal is stunned or flat out unconscious.

Slaughtering is the correct term for the killing of animals for food. Killing is not incorrect, it is just in this context, slaughtering is more explanatory. It means you can understand the poster isn't a psycho killing ducks for sh1ts and giggles.
