Just wondering can anyone answer this question for me. I have just had my second child and a form for his child benefit arrived. I have been saving the child benefit amount for my first child in a state savings scheme since his birth and would like to do the same for this second child.

I want them to be two separate accounts though, is this possible does anyone know or does the child benefit come as one payment for two children instead of two separate payments per child? Hope what I am saying makes sense!

Its one payment for both kids.

At least we get the one payment into our account for both!

    Thanks Brian and pter

Does anyone else do the child benefit state savings thing? Is it possible to direct it into two accounts one for each child? Just want each child to have their own savings which I will be giving them for college when the time comes. I know the savings account is just for 6 years at a time though and I'll need to transfer into another account before they are 28 anyway

I have a private savings account which they go into.

Easier to manage and little bit more flexibility which suits me.

Matter of setting up 2 standing orders for the day after the money comes into your account.

Not sure how the state savings one works though - sorry!
