This is ridiculous.. Agree with him or not, allowing all the other candidates to attack Casey - aided by the supposed moderator - is farcical

He also allowed them to attack Michael D. It's standard procedure during debates for whoever is leading (or, in the case of Peter Casey, on something of a roll) to get attacked by the other candidates.

Irish Americans arent illegal they are undocumented...

It's a phrase that grates alright. How often do you hear of 'undocumented ' being here. It's always 'illegal' when describing them.

He may have allowed them to attack MDH, but he didn't jump in and force MDH to answer the question, in fact he allowed him to deflect the question and move on

You'll have to take my word on it that I'm not a bleeding heart, I'm pretty heard on people who constantly take from society but never give...

However, I find the response to Caseys travellers comments really uncomfortable.

I remember having a conversation with an Irish Australian friend who said that she thought that the traveller\Aboriginal conversations in Ireland /Australia were essentially same. Irish people with limited experience of Australia thought Australians were really tough on Aboroginals and Australians said that Irish were missing context and harsh criticisms were fair given broad societal experience. Same true when Irish people explained their views on travellers to Australians. Since then I sometimes change traveller word to Aboroginal in my head, and cringe at how much more uncomfortable I feel, basically because I know in my heart it is strong biased stereotyping at the very least

Peter Casey won't win the election but he's saying things a lot of people in Rural Ireland agree with and he'll win back his deposit.

Joan mentions Pieta at every given chance and then won't answer a tough question on it.

Joan complaining about not being able to speak..... As she stands there practically silent thus far

I’ll be voting for Casey not for him to be President but just for having the balls to say what most of us are thinking.

I don't think David McCullagh playing Devil's advocate questioning the success of Pieta House will be popular.

Anyone who votes for Casey is 100℅ racist. We should be proud to acknowledge the ethic traveller group & all they have contributed to our social, arts & economic prosperity .
