Lidl have a cordless chainsaw for 150eur, seems like a good deal. Anyone have any experience with these, are they any good?

The saw might be alright for light use but there is a warning sign in the description. Tool-free chain tightening. None of those systems work and the bar will loosen and do your head in. It'll be a ****ty ratchet type system that won't let you over tighten but after a while won't tighten enough.

Get the petrol one for the same price and at least it will cut something.

Chain speed on the petrol one is twice as fast as the battery one also.

I got one of those electric chainsaws for free,a pain in the hole trying to keep tension on the chain.
Had a petrol one from Lidl too,it was a rebadged Husqvarna and did Trojan work.

I have this and find it to be very heavy. It does come with a harness to attach it but can be awkward at times.

It's a 2 stroke engine. They're everywhere and nothing complicated. Bring it to a tool hire place for a look.

Probably just needs a shot of carb cleaner. Carb gets gummed up if you leave the fuel sitting in it also air filter can get clogged with oil.

Local tool hire place won't touch them.

They hoping you'll hire/buy from them?

Well try what autumnalcore suggested or check YT for how-to's. I assume you always used premixed fuel+2 stroke oil in it? Cos if you didn't it's probably kaput.

Yup. Have had a go around the YouTube videos, adjusted the screw for the carburetor etc..
That's about the extent of my knowledge.

I’ve got one of those chainsaws. Love it so far.
It won’t replace you petrol chainsaw , but it is amazing for light DIY work .
It is also great for pruning garden trees ,you can fell few smallish trees with this one as well . It is very quiet too.
As for the battery life ... It is not bad, I would say one charge last same as one tank of petrol chainsaw .
Three year warranty with this saw.
Great emergency saw I would say , handy to have it at the back of a van/suv .

    Cons :
    - only one battery included ( it is alright for this price, but you can’t buy second battery separately , which is ridiculous)
I’ve sourced same saw in USA , brand name LYNXX
    https://www.harborfreight.com/40v-lithium-14-in-cordless-chain-saw-63287.html
They selling spare battery for $59

    - Biggest issue with this saw , it is not supposed to use in a rain , not friendly fo the wet weather.

say if you're in the middle of sawing down a heavy tree or branch and the battery goes dead, you'd be rightly goosed

You do have a charge indicator on the batteries so you can check before you cut.

I have couple petrol saws( one is PRO series Husqvarna 550XP), I won't be starting felling heavy tree with the battery saw., as for the small trees , say 14 inch it is fine.

    I found where you can get a spare battery for your chainsaw;
If you search up "optimex-shop" .com. Sorry, I not allowed to post the link! )-:
    But it costs €65!

Can anyone say about how long the saw lasts on a charge?
We are looking into getting one.

    Cheers Jay, nice one.

I would say it last 15-20 min continuous use on one charge.
