2 Truths & 1 Lie

So, inspired by my readback of some of the discussion threads here I decided I'd give this idea by Andy a whirl. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work.

Basic premise: The person tells people 2 truths and 1 lie about themselves and people have to guess the lie.

It's a bit of fun, worth a go imo.

So here's the first one to start us off:

    1. I work for the Gardaí.
    2. I met my wife working in a roadhouse in Australia.
    3. I own my own house.

Two of these are true, one is a lie.

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 53,842 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

Yeah if you like, I might let others guess though see if we can get a bit of interest in it going.

    Incorrect

    Number 1 is a lie

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

3 is the lie. All his fights take place on the Astral Plane like Dr Strange or the short lived gritty 90s Chuckle Brothers Nights show. And also 1 and 2 have already been guessed.

Weird i posted earlier but it didnt come through. Sully is correct! I dont have a dog, and if i did, he/she wouldnt be named Oscar, they would be named Pat.

Yeah, I knew it but I didn't want this to devolve into a back and forth of how much Necro and Pter know about each other :pac:

    Okay:
    1) My bike is worth more than my car
    2) I have 7 pairs of sunglasses, all polarised, that I match to my outfit on any given day
    3) My first iPod was named after my favourite cartoon character (Tweety pie)

Really wanna guess.... will leave for others....

#2 is the lie, because at least one pair is a €2 bright orange pair of unpolarized crap you bought on holiday while drunk, but they look awesome and always make you feel like you have a 2 piña colada glow.

    Can I play?

    Doesn't wait for response

I think 2 is the lie too, because the actual number of sunglasses is different

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 53,842 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

Anyone can play :) Hoping it'll take off like 20 questions did....

Although... that thread nearly has 5k posts now. What can I say, I'm ambitious :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

I'm betting it's #1 and the bike is nice but not that nice.

Fwiw I would have said #2 as well.

*Waits for #3 to be the lie and us all to look like fools :P *

We actually coordinate the lies we feed you mugs in our secret chat room.

I assume she does....I think she has mentioned driving to things previously.

I might be projecting actually cos I have 5 pairs of sunglasses that I rotate according to my outfits

Macular degeneration runs in my family. Nothing unpolarised goes near my face. Favourite brand is Maui Jim. Even my bright orange winter cycling glasses are polarised. Sos Banjo.

The bike is nice. And even nicer again. But I do drive an 07.

    I’m an Apple fangurl.

My first iPod didn’t have a name. My last iPod was actually called Gary.

By revealing this before anyone could commit to #3 as the lie, you have ended the chain and killed the game.
I have informed the Fun Police.
Please remember, you have the right to remain silent, should you waive that right anything you say can and will be lost during the Boards maintenance window at the weekend; You have the right to a games-master, if you cannot afford a games-master one will be provided for you but they'll be an anally-retentive Vampire The Masquerade purist who drinks a lot of gelatin-thickened Shloer and keeps whining about their dark gift and how they've never lost a game of Ludo since the night of that terrible, beautiful embrace. With these rights in mind, are you willing to tell us if it's Gary from Spongebob or the bin lorry from Car City?

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 53,842 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

I'm sure no one will mind you taking the next go Banjo. Apart from maybe that Vampire person you mention :pac:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

I'm not angling for a go - I got the last one wrong, fair and square. Those orange sunglasses didn't look polarised from where I was crouching. Maybe if I'd bought more expensive binoculars, or picked a tree with a clearer angle....

    2) I'm a nerd
    3) My car is silver

    1!

I think you like being a nerd and you've given someone here a lift before so the car thing is verifiable!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

    2)
I bet you've quantified it and while you may be borderline, technically you're a geek, spaz or dork.

I'll add to this and say playing WW definitely qualifies as a nerdy hobby so nerdiness is pretty much a given for most of us

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 53,842 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

Ah shure to round it out I'll give a guess at 3 as the lie.

I'd say your car is a different colour, but I'm probably way wrong :P

    Correctamundo!

Only just noticed the thread, and posted in it as soon as I'd caught up. Am definitely a nerd (as TB says, I think by definition we all are). Car is dark grey.

If someone else wants a go (TB/Banjo/anyone really), fire ahead :)

    Oh I'm a terrible liar!

    Ok

    I've never seen Home Alone
    I've never seen ET
    I've never seen The Goonies

    Goonies.

(Edit: because it's the one most seldom on TV, the others you'd surely have caught by now on multiple viewings)

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 53,842 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

Oh God I think I know this....

    It's ET isn't it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

Home Alone. But in an ironic twist of fate you were actually left home alone and forced to fend for yourself by watching unsuitable movies and assaulting adults with household objects.

    Ding ding ding!

I have never seen ET all the way through, I know the bike thing cos it's referenced so much in terms of imagery but I don't even really know what the plot is, space things have just never interested me.

The Goonies I have seen all the way through albeit passively, its not really my jam either.

    Jaysus I'm on fire :)

Ok I'll give it another shot:

    1. I won an All Ireland medal for a project in the Community Games
    2. I managed my local gaelic football team to a minor (U-18) title
    3. I have awards for regional quizzes with my school from my younger days

Project in the community games or on the community games?
I only ask cos I thought community games were athletic endeavours rather than academic

    They USED to be both.

    2. Nearly true but You never got the title?

    I see I see!

I think 2 is true cos you're still involved with the GAA so I'm going to guess 1 is the lie and 3 is true

Correct. I did represent Sligo at National level for a project in the Community Games however didn't win :(

Used to be quizzes too but CG was the only National Final my quiz team for my age category never qualified for. Won Local and Regional level for Credit Union, Sligo medals for Cadburys... lost a tie-breaker though to miss out on Community Games finals.
