Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It was at this very stage last year Vettel’s championship hopes imploded, and the coffin nailed shut in Japan.

I'd like to see this championship settled on the track and not by drivers wrecking others drivers.

If I was Hamilton I'd be very worried about Verstappen starting beside me.

Hopefully Max does what he did last year and takes somebody out first corner. Just hopefully this time it's Lewis and not Seb.

I'm calling the result, 1 Verstappen, 2 Hamilton, 3 Vettel

Vettel to win, Kimi second and Bottas or Riccardo in 3rd

Perez punted Ocon into the wall.

Verstappen a bit unlucky the safety car wasn't called a bit earlier.

    Pity for force india

Charlie absolutely waited for Vettel to get that move done.

Sergio Perez lying through his teeth I see.

Eh, look at Sirotkin's front wing - Bit of wheel rim?

Dunno how that's not a penalty for Perez.
    Lovely move by Vettel.
Gonna be a long ****ing race.

Between teammates sometimes they don't seemed to get involved as much... Would be double punishment

Max close enough now to make a lunge at Vettel in DRS range.

This could end up being a very boring race if nothing else happens. Hopefully something happens around pit stop time.

Looks like zero action until the pit stops

Did we just see rain drops?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,385 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

Hamilton pushing a bit so maybe rain a possibility

Mercedes putting on the harder tyres.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,648 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Hamilton on the soft tyre though, are they going to try for a 1 stop?

  • Moderators, Home & Garden Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators, Regional East Moderators Posts: 12,602 Mod ✭✭✭✭2011

    Lewis will maintain the lead

  • Registered Users Posts: 487 ✭✭BikeRacer

    That was beautiful from Merc

Now Hamilton does not have to stop again and Vettel does :(

Real amateur hour stuff strategy-wise from Ferrari.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,990 ✭✭✭Cool_CM

That could be the race for Mercedes unless there's another SC

Aye. Easy one stop. I've given up on worrying about strategy.

How are Kimi and Verstappen on their tyres? Could come into it later.

    Vettel will catch Hamilton soon

    Will be an interesting battle

Ferrari are gambling because they did no soft-tyre running this weekend, similar to Monza.

It could work out for them but how could you not do any running on the softs?

Have Ferrari made a balls of it with there tyre strategy? Great strategy there by Red Bull with Max

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,990 ✭✭✭Cool_CM

Max on softs too, Ferrari might have seriously dropped the ball here

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,599 ✭✭✭ScrubsfanChris

Ferrari #1 on pit stop strategies............. said no one

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,369 ✭✭✭Rossi IRL

Surely Ferrari have to use Kimi now to stay out and slow all down

    They always do.

Was the lap behind Perez all that cost Vettel there? How did 3 laps on new softer tyres and an existing lead not give him a decent lead?

The only way I see Vettel winning this now is if there is another safety car and they get ahead somehow. Not Ferrari's day.

They will probably box him just as Lewis comes up behind him

Would make complete shíte of his own race mind, and cost them Constructors points.

Vettel is losing massive amounts of time, something has to be wrong. He's dropped 3 seconds behind Verstappen.
