I just love the cooler months on the year when I can get back into my boots, leathers and gloves:D. Sick of runners and tee shirts at this stage. I feel that autumn/winter wear is sexier and more sensual! Anyone else feel the same way?

For me it's not so much about the winter fashion but more about seasons. I get bored of winter clothes at the end of the winter and of summer clothes at the end of the summer.

I like wide legged trousers that seem to be in, comfy jumpers and more voluminous silhouette but it can be very hard to pull off if you are not supper skinny and tall. Frilly floral dresses though is one trend I can't get on board with. I have not too long list of items that I am looking for this fall and a few might be found in new Uniqlo U collection coming out on 20th.

Yeah, I'm dying for the weather to change, I find it much easier to dress for Autumn/Winter. Plus I actually enjoy the change in the season - the nip in the air, the smell of wood fires, lighting candles in the evenings, walking through drifts of fallen leaves with the dog.

For me, autumn/winter fashion has to be about the leather! Jackets, jeans, waistcoats, shirts, caps, gloves and the boots - ankle, calf high, OTK, and thigh high!

Ah! Yes, the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness and the pleasures of the fireside. I too find it easier to dress for autumn/winter as I love getting back into my leathers getting out there in all weathers.

Autumn clothing is a novelty now, next April it will have become oppressive :) Sadly I don't drive, 10 minutes walk to the bus stop,I need to go for waterproof coats, sadly, most of the time, would like to wear something nice, like the trench-coat in my wardrobe, but it's so wet,so often... :)

I love winter fashion. I love experimenting with all the different layering styles. I'm gonna be wearing my summer band and graphic t-shirts over long sleeve turtleneck jumpers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,812 ✭✭✭Addle

Boots, long coats, hats and scarves, layers on top of layers....
    I love winter!

I feel like a proper adult in my smart winter coat. Then I put my woolly bauble hat on.

I'm with you - the fantasy and reality of Autumn and winter dressing tend to be different!

And everything tends to be so much more expensive!

I do love opaque tights and not having to worry about what state my legs are in.

I also have to use the buses and know what it is like to be out in the rain. I find leather to be both warm and water proof without the need for layering. It dries off quickly and looks cool!

    Footwear or full on outfit?

Definitely not practical for most purple walking around head to two in leather, but sure do what makes you happy

Sometimes, full head to toe leather or a combination of leather and denim. I do love my leathers!

Not getting the fixation with leather, I have to say. It's neither waterproof nor particularly warm.

I have two leather pencil skirts that I love, but again, I wouldn't consider it warm or waterproof!

Anyway, I can't wait to get back into my hats. I flippin' love a good hat, I do.

In my opinion leather is the ideal winter clothing choice and speaking as a life long leather wearer, it is definitely waterproof. The warmth is determined by the weight and the quality of the leather.

LOL, lots of leather fetish people on Boards I've noticed!

I far prefer winter and autumn over summer.

I love getting back into ankle boots, layers, wooly jumpers and cardigans and then I LOVE hats/scarves/gloves.

And I love winter coats. This year Im due a new "fancy" coat.

Interesting that people who wear a lot of leather are often described as having a " leather fetish ". People who wear other types of clothing such as denim, wool or tweed are never described as having a " fetish ". For me leather is just a practical quality material that keeps me dry and warm during the winter months.

It’s probably because you described how sexy if makes you feel.

I think I'm on my own here but I get depressed when I see Autumn clothes in the shops. I love summer clothes, so easy to wear. No jackets, jumpers, socks.... I love having a tan and wearing lovely strong summery colours. I hate the thoughts of wearing heavy, dark clothes for months.:(
I'm at my happiest when Spring is in the air !

Just curious. I wonder does it depend on what you look like/colouring.

I am ferociously pale skinned, cant possibly tan, spent this year from May til August miserably applying factor 50 when making any trip outside for more than 5 minutes. Summer clothes just dont suit my pale skin. And no one wants to see my blue white legs or arms on display.

In Autumn, all the deeper colours sit much better against my paleness and I can indulge a more gothic look - which I like.

Good point, I'm dark and tan easily without burning. Strong colours suit me best, turquoise, orange, lime green. I look like death warmed up if I wear, beige, grey or any dull colour.

Donned a black trench-coat a few days ago,for the first time ever, had bought it at the end of sales in March or April. But only wearing it now. I looks actually rather good actually, feel 'older' and kinda 'business-like' :) (if you get my drift :) )

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,225 ✭✭✭✭Dial Hard

A good coat is great, can make you feel so polished and "grown up".

Conversely, I hate when you see someone in a really put-together outfit (particularly a business one) and then they ruin it with a casual jacket.

And by casual I mean, like, a Man Utd. one or something!

Yup. I agree. I love to be able to roll out the knee high and thigh high boots with dark stockings, shorter skirts and polo necks. I also love the chunky knit look with skinny jeans or faux leather trousers. Autumn fashion can often be a lot nicer than summer wear. I’m loving fashion at the moment for this time of the year!

For me, Autumn/Winter fashion has to be about the boots!! - ankle boots, cowboy boots, biker boots, riding boots, OTK, thigh high and crotch high. I just love my boots!!

Yes, there are crotch high boots out there, , boots that are higher than thigh high and cover the entire leg. https://www.fernandoberlinboots.com/en/flat-crotch-high-boots-standard-size.html

Correct, you will have to shop on line to purchase crotch high boots. I wear these beauties and would highly recommend https://www.fernandoberlinboots.com/en/flat-crotch-high-boots-standard-size.html

Not my type of boots I am afraid.

I like some of this year's stuff. Corduroy is fun and animal print works for now. Of course it will go full on EastEnders by middle of November. I like the choice of big chunky jumpers, I am even warming up to brown colour. I'm glad more relaxed clothing is in, skinny jeans got very boring. I'm still not mad about florals, ethnic motifs and similar 70s nonsense thankfully mostly disappeared with summer.

Are leather pants back in fashion this autumn?

For me, leather pants/jeans are always in fashion! Leather jeans always look great either for day or evening wear as they are warm and waterproof and lets face it, damn sexy as well!

Once again, leather is not waterproof. Nor particularly warm.

    Lots of leather/pleather everywhere now.
I have a new lined brown leather skirt which is super warm, and wipe-able. It's my favourite item of clothing now.

If so, why is leather the preferred choice of clothing material of bikers, who are exposed to extreme weather conditions.

I think leather is great but it needs to fit well and going for classy style works better than sexy stuff unless you want to go for porn star look.

Proper biker jackets have waterproof lining and loads of other safety additions. I know of no motorcyclist actually wearing standard biker style jackets when on longer rides. Most I know are also not overly fond to travel in the rain long distances.

Agree, for me its the rock star look - biker jacket and and thigh high boots, all in black leather of course!

Agree, most biker jackets are unsuitable for actual motor bike riding.

Is there anything nicer than a woman in leather pants? Very stylish and elegant.

I would say tone rather than size, like in most things.
