Can you all try clear your cache and see if this resolves the issue for. We have reports that this has worked for some customers.

    Thanks

Mobile site appears to be working but nothing else as Bojill says.

Hi Tracey. It is definitely NOT working. I have tested via Virgin Media and Vodafone mobile connections. You have an internal network issue blocking the traffic. See attached screenshots.

Please forward to your IT dept. - ask them to check what is happening at 86.43.242.22.

Started working again. So, whatever was done in the last few minutes resolved the issue. Tested over Virgin and Vodafone connections.

It was partly working for me for a while. I could access webmail, and still can.

However, if I could access eir.ie (which I no longer can), it failed to connect to my account (churning on "loading account details" for a long time without success). Anyway, back to not getting anything from eir.ie!

...and it's gone again. I give up helping here.

What an absolute joke! Webmail comes back teasingly for an hour and then blows up again - WTF is going on??

It looks to wherever they decided to root http://www.eir.ie to is not working.

If you need to access your account you can use https://my.eir.ie/ which works perfectly fine (at least for me).

It's clear it's a problem of where they decide to route the www requests to as for example next to my.eir the business website still works: https://business.eir.ie/

I still don't get how they can not simply point their record to a holding page somewhere else with at least an error message, it's simple stuff, sure it will take a while to replicate (hence their tip of clearing the cache) but it's not rocket science.

The business site is hosted by AWS (no problems there). The residential pages look like they are internally hosted.

Agree - this is not complicated stuff. The problem was ignored / not noticed internally in Eir for a long time (probably because of routing differences).

I thought eir was getting better, I was about to move over my phone to their 19.99€ offer as after testing pre-paid for a while I noticed that in my areas of travel their network is better for 4G than Vodafone and it would save me 15€ a month, but if they can't even do a simple website pointer I'm not so sure anymore.

By the way, for the email, it looks like the direct link is webmail.eir.ie.

Is anyone in eir looking into this?

Possibly nobody in eir can afford a different internet provider / mobile phone provider so they can't replicate it as it's fine from eir network.

I have Virgin broadband...cant access eir webmail on any device for the last two days

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 132 ✭✭Malmsteen

Once again I cannot access my eircom.net email via any wi-fi connection but no trouble logging in on my phone via the data network which is crazy if it wasnt my main business/official email add. I would have ditched it Years ago......😕
Go on Eir........ tell me your looking into it..... once again.....!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,124 ✭✭✭JDxtra

All businesses should have ditched eircom.net email addresses many years ago. You just have to take the hit with the change to your own domain - far better and more flexible in the medium to long term.

If I see a business with an @eircom.net email address I think twice about using them.

It is actually mind boggling. Unreal. Have all their IT dept. just got up and walked out the door?

    Hi everyone,

Our IT team are still investigating this for you, thank you for your patience.

Can all customers who are affected by this please confirm who their current internet provider is, please?

Not all customers are affected, we are trying to identify exactly what the issue is.

    Thanks

    Tracey
