Has anyone else been let down by this 2 day ship to Ireland?

I've had 3 items now and when I go to buy I get the message saying it's eligible for 2 day shipping to Ireland as I am a Prime member but then it doesn't arrive within two days?

Nope, everything so far as been on-time for the delivery date given at checkout for two day and standard (when two day isn't available).

By any chance are you assuming everything is two-day when instead some items are shipping via standard?

Not once: been notified the items would be late and still arrived on time. Faster most of the time than Dublin to Dublin. Recently ordered even a full size easel and still was on time

Yes I've had issues with 2 day delivery. I actually have something due to be delivered tomorrow by priority delivery so I'm interested to see if it arrives on time.

I've had 3 deliveries in the last week that have arrived a day late, but was given £5 / £5 / £6 credit for each after going on live chat so not too bothered

Definitely seem to be having teething issues with it

My order from a few days ago isn't even showing as dispatched yet but it was definitely prime delivery on the item....

My Amazon priority 2 day delivery has become a 1week+ delivery.

Apparently, there are issues on the Anpost side of things, so I was told yesterday by an Amazon rep.

My delivery has been in Dublin12 since last Friday one week ago

Same problem here, after half a dozen really fast deliveries after I first joined prime they are back to taking fcuking ages to dispatch!

I waited 48hrs for the last item I ordered to be dispatched and then cancelled. Cancellation was easy so no chance the item had even got as far as being picked off the shelf.

Mine still hasn't been dispatched. Very disappointing service. Two day delivery was the reason I signed up.

Have you contacted them about it?

In my experience contacting Amazon gets great results I should know I've done it enough but nothing changes at Amazon.

You might get expedited delivery for the item in question or a refund of a couple of months prime but nothing will change at Amazon so when it comes to the next delivery you could be back to square one.

Maybe someone misread the label and sent it to Iceland. No kidding that actually happened to me one time.

So Priority takes longer than standard? Even that they have that Priority is a 2 day delivery to Ireland.
Unlimited Priority (Two-Day) Delivery to the Republic of Ireland (ROI). Threshold free on eligible items, at no extra cost. If items are not eligible for Priority Delivery, they’ll be delivered to the ROI via Standard (3-4 days) or Economy (3-5 days) Delivery at no extra cost.

For me I have had the same a few times that it said priority would take longer than standard.
However I always pick priority and each time it has come within the 2 days.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,764 ✭✭✭my3cents

I think what may be happening with the standard/priority delivery times is that Amazon are taking into account that you are in Ireland when quoting the Priority delivery times and quoting the UK delivery times as standard?

I placed an order with 6 items a week ago. 4 items arrived in 2 days but the other 2 items still haven't been dispatched. I just complained to them on live chat and they extended my Prime subscription by a month which I am happy with. The best I have done before is a couple of £5 credits.

I've had about 4 credits now after things delayed a few days, but my last few orders have been back on track. Almost disappointed :pac:

This Priority delivery is a bit of a con.
Looking at buying a few Pc parts ,it says delivery within two days so I add to the basket then it says delivery is 8-9 days with Priority whilst standard delivery is faster.
The part then goes out of stock whilst waiting to be dispatched so I'm back to square one.
This is happening too often lately .

Log into their live chat or get them to call you and they will normally sort this for you.

A mate pre-ordered a game thats due for release next week and when he checked the order status it was giving an estimated deliver date of about 4 days after the game release date. So he got onto live chat and they said they would arrange with the courier to have it delivered on the release date. Result!

Very disappointed with the amount of items which actually have the 2 day delivery. More often than not, the priority delivery is still at least 7 days or the 'standard' delivery date is the same as the priority one. If I change my address to UK one, pretty much everything is one day delivery, even the items that take 7 days with priority to Ireland

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,960 ✭✭✭✭Discodog

I signed up to the Prime trial. It seems pointless as the delivery time is the same to Ireland. I only get the fast delivery if I use AP & that means extra cost.

It depends on the items, I've had a couple that qualified for 2 day delivery. Some take the normal amount of time, others arrive much sooner than the estimate but that happened sometimes without prime as well.

Way too hit & miss to justify the cost - for me anyway

Yesterday Oct 23 I signed up for Amazon Prime, then placed an order (in stock, sold and delivered by Amazon, Prime checked) and it says delivery: Nov 8?

Today same thing, a screwdriver with 'Free Priority' but estimated delivery is Nov 5th, which is nearly two weeks from now!

Am I missing something? I was used to MUCH QUICKER delivery times BEFORE signing up with "Prime.. 2-days Ireland delivery service"!

    Who delivers it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,015 ✭✭✭Zardoz

Well the motherboard I ordered finally showed up today ,the packaging was non existant ,just the motherboard in the retail packaging.
    Not good enough.

I ordered a 2TB hard drive a few weeks ago and it came in a cardboard sleeve with a tiny bit of bubble wrap ,absolutely ridiculous packaging.

Standards seem to be slipping .

Just depends on what the packers manager has dictated. I've had stuff with so much packaging it was ridiculous and like you HDD knocking around in large cardboard boxes with no protection.

Shipping wise last couple of Prime items came through in two days but a bit p!ssed over an item that had one left in stock when I ordered but is now down to be delivered anytime in the next 3 months. Price however is just too good to cancel the order.

Both purchases were marked as 'sold and delivered by Amazon' + PRIME.
I was wondering if anyone finds Amazon Prime faster (they promise 2-days to EIRE) because to me seems slower (?)

When I originally signed up to Prime my first 2 or 3 deliveries were about 4 days from ordering.

I've had about 15 items delivered in 2 days with Prime in the last two months though. All delivered with An Post and the label always says Express.

Ordered a keyboard on Sunday morning and for some reason it's coming with DHL and won't be delivered until Monday.

I'll keep trying.... Normally without PRIME, to qualify for free shipping to Ireland the purchase must be at least £25. So far it seems to me that the only advantage is free shipping for <£25 (but longer delivery times).

I just ordered an item with over a 7 day delivery even with Prime even though it's fulfilled by Amazon. I raised it with CS & they say that "Prime delivery does not apply to Ireland "

It may as well not apply going by how few items support it. All items which get 1 day delivery to UK should get 2 day delivery to Ireland otherwise they shouldn't even bother doing this cause no1 is going to continue the subscription once they realise how bad it is.

There own site when viewed from Ireland has a green (what other colour could they have used :o) banner stating....

Unlimited two day delivery to the Republic of Ireland with Prime.

I heard similar stupidity recently as well, on the live chat. I ordered something and after ordering decided i'll give prime a try and then used the change shipping speed option to change it to priority. Assumed this would be free seeing as I just subscribed to prime but it charged me without any notification. They told me priority shipping is not free with prime but they'll waive the charge as a gesture of good will. I just cancelled the order and done it again, lo and behold with free priority delivery, they went silent when I told them.

I’ve had constant problems with the 2 day delivery. However each time it happened I’ve rang them and invariably I get a free month of Prime. I’m ok with that. It does seem that an post is struggling.

Do we know that it's an Anpost problem? Does the tracking confirm this?

Once they're shipped with anpost its always been delivered within 2 days for me. It's the delay before shipping which makes things take longer.

I had one item that was Prime when I ordered it the came with iParcel  so there is still some mucking around being done at Amazons end but I think some of it is to do with availability and people are buying stuff that they think is in stock when its isn't and is on back order either that or there more demand than the stock can cope with.

Find it good value. I order quite a bit off amazon UK and use parcel motel for delivery as am at work til late in the evening most days so an extra €3 per delivery for peace of mind is OK.

For £7.99 per month you get the delivery service plus the streaming which I find is getting better than Netflix

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 49 Hungryhill

I will check the movies again because the first impression they seem the usual Netflix-like rubbish. I signed up mostly for the promised 2-day delivery to Ireland, which does not appear to be true.
Right before Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the Christmas presents shopping, I was really looking forward to the 2-day delivery with free shipping etc.

This gets funnier. I just got an update. My item is being delivered by DHL today :D

But the DHL tracking says that it in Germany

I wonder if they are going to drop it by parachute ?

Thats common for stuff thats coming with DHL from Germany, I get often get car parts from Germany and see the item as being out for delivery when its still in Germany. iirc you'll probably get the item by An Post.

Same with me. Prime delivery to UK address next day. Change it to Ireland, over a week. Happened on 4 of the last 5 orders. Waste of money to get Prime if this goes on. Got on to chat to resolve and they said they'd try and contact the warehouse to get expedited shipping. They said it was due to logistic reasons that it could not ship to Ireland in 2 days from their Scottish warehouse. I asked how it could be picked and packed to appear in London from Scotland over night then, but not Ireland? The agent didn't have an answer.

Fair enough it shipped next day after talking to the agent but that was 5 days ago and it was without tracking. Not appeared yet, so very unimpressed.

Amazon just apologised & can't explain the "error" but they have given me a £10 credit so it pays to complain.

I should have complained every time I've had that. Its a very common issue with stuff coming on the cheap from Germany.

afaik DHL is the nearest thing Germany have to An Post. When you get that daft out for delivery msg for stuff thats but actually still in Germany you normally have at least another 3 working days often longer to wait.

So DHL here means a courier service in Germany it can mean a dead slow parcel service.
