    Interesting
I wonder who, if anyone, will take over the Afternoon slot

Great station..pity it is not on FM

I’m kinda surprised he’s still on it. Are he and Will Leahy actually still doing live shows every weekday?! Surely their listenership is miniscule.

Will Leahy’s show has just yesterday been nominated for best breakfast show at the IMRO Radio Awards

Chat is at a minimum to be honest. Great varied selection of tracks during the night

The weekend shows are all voicetracked.

    Weekday shows are live.

Really enjoy it. I wouldn’t have listened to RoS before but really the 3pm to 6pm slot. I sit in an office on my own - I texted him one Thursday and he played Today by the Smashing Pumpkins for me. That’s my kind of radio!

Hope the new show goes well for him.

Who is taking Ricks slot in the afternoon? Wonder will they end up with a presenter on all the daytime shows!

DJ's will be its ruination. Much like Lyric.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,189 ✭✭✭mr_edge_to_you

Doesn’t bother me in the slightest that there’s no women presenters.

As long as there’s no waffle, no celeb presenters (likes of Nicky Byrne), no comedians, no talkshows I’m fine.

You might as well use Spotify if you don't want presenters.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,690 ✭✭✭ford fiesta

If they put it on LW 252 would be great

Or on FM instead of Lyric or R na G as Lw isn’t readily available these days particularly on car radios!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,114 ✭✭✭trixiebust

I never realised there was even presenters on the station. Every time I happened to listen, it was track after track. Playlist is very good though.

Even if you don't pay the TV licence. RTE Gold is essentially free.

It’s a great station and seems to be growing in popularity. Hopefully RTE will take notice and get it on national FM!

There's nothing in that age demographic that I like. Used to like BBC R2, but that's not great these days.

National, & in the car, this would be great.

That's the trouble, it'll turn into another 2FM.

How about RTE Gold replacing 2FM, on FM!!
    Move 2FM to Digital.

Sell 2FM, there's no justification for it on a public service station, plus it has lost million over the years.

Any chance of RTE Gold/Radio 1 changing the voiceover on their overnight service??

She pronounces "Radio One" as "Radio Wen"

Rick started his new show at 10! I wonder will the afternoon/drivetime show have a presenter or just a jukebox format!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 364 ✭✭gamecube

    Dave fanning maybe?

David Bowie once wrote a song about Rick O’ Shea :P

Heard Al Dunne saying that his Fri and Sat 80s show is now more.
He is moving to Aidan Leonard's slot on a Saturday morning.

Hopefully Aidan is staying with RTE Gold!

Rick O'Shea taking over Will Leahy's 80s show.
Will is starting a 90s show

Rick O' Shea & Will Leahy are on RTE Gold a year now after getting moved from 2fm

Are people here enjoying their shows this past year or are people thinking that RTE Gold is just a retirement home for presenters too old for 2fm?

I prefer current affairs or OffTheBall AM before 9 so don’t really listen to Will.

Have to say that Rick O’Shea’s show is the best 3 hours of “radio” on a week day. I could never listen to him on 2FM. I’d just gotten used to the afternoon show when they reshuffled but the 10:00 to 13:00 slot fits perfectly in to my day. Hopefully they’ll get someone in for the afternoon.

I don't get to listen to Rick's show that often but when I do it's always very good & I enjoy his choice of songs over the 3 hours.

Mike Maloney, Nails Mahoney and Marian Farrell joining the line up at the weekend

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 71,113 ✭✭✭✭L1011

I would imagine they're getting paid (Nails having been on Q102 very recently for instance) - does Gold have any ads or is it solely licence funded?

Not going to be an expensive service and I imagine much of the audience are of the age to be licence payers anyway!

Larry doesn't really feature on the new weekend schedule.

Sounds of the 60s and The Classic Countdown are gone..just The Classic Album remains for Larry with him introducing an album.

Dalys 80s seemed to go into repeat mode coming up to christmas and now is gone completely from the schedule :(
Really liked the mix of music and retro pieces in that show.

I'm getting very fed up with the music played on Gold
We've a 5 month old to get to sleep so it is on most of the day and evening.

The same songs play every night. It is gone beyond a joke.

I have sent in emails, texts and facebook messenges about it.
    Not one reply.
