Eanna Falvey - back/hip/glute problems

    Hi all, I hurt my back almost 2 years ago now and ended up with sciatica. At the time I had a few treatments and sorted it but in the last 5 months I have been getting bad pain in the glutes and behind the hips and across the sacrum area. Been to lots of physios and all blame the back injury but I'm not so sure. I'm also getting pain in the adductors/inner thigh and sometimes the groin.
    Anyway I'm debating going to Eanna Falvey but is this something he would work with. I'm not a competitive sports person but would have been very fit and active before this all happened. I don't want to shell out any more money on the wrong person.
    I have difficulty doing anything now.
    P.s.I did go and see a back surgeon after the initial injury and he was happy enough to leave me off and do low impact exercises. I don't have as much leg referral now and what I do get I think is from the piriformis as when thats needled I get relief.

    I assume you're doing core work e.g. pallof presses, toes pointed planks or normal planks etc?

    Hiya. Was not a sporty person at all and was referred to him for chronic back pain . He then sent me to a trainer and now the issue is sorted. It took 2 years but am so happy (And now a sporty person :D ) The group I am in all are working on various issues and all sent by Eanna. He was 100% worth going to in my case.

    What some in my group are doing is more or less what is on transforms video.

    Sorry for late reply....I live in South Tipperary. I do rollout using the ball. I also do glute stretches but stretching on my left side can aggravate things.
    I've been self rehabbing, with videos on YouTube...maybe not the best soloutions but the physio exercises have been useless.....pelvic tilts, knee to chest stretch and that's about it. I've seen 3 different ones and none of them gave me activation or strengthening exercises. I think they're afraid of what they see on my scan! So I decided to do some research myself. I have seen a slight improvement but not too much. I use some of the pilates videos on YouTube and I do a lot of stretching as well.
    Haven't ruled out going to eanna falvey, it's just that I've heard you have to go to his physios once a week....which is a trek for me and also expensive. I went through 14 months with 3 different physios already!

    The first physio, I went to them when I initially had the injury, did hands on work around my low back and gave me 3 exercises to do: pelvic tilts, lying on my back and dropping knees to the side, and lying on my back and pulling my knee to chest.     Things have improved because its easier to walk and I'm also not waking as much during the night. But I was thinking about going to Eanna and getting a proper diagnosis and the right exercises.

    IT just boggles me how someone can keep you coming back for so many sessions and just keep on doing the same thing over and over again. We all know the famous quote!

    Another question to ponder, what makes you think Eanna Falvey is going to get it right and sorted as compared to other therapists? I see another poster said they went to him and it took 2 years to see them selves right.

    I'm presuming Mr. Falvey would be quite expensive to deal with?

    I've been completely turned off physios tbh. In addition to the treatment there was alot of negativity around my injury and my future abilities to be able to do any form of exercise. Looking back now it probably affected my healing because it was all negative.

What I'm looking for really is a correct diagnosis, and then the right exercise prescription, and maybe some instruction on how to do the exercises correctly, and I'm hoping Eanna Falvey would get it right! I'm also thinking that I might only have to go to his physios a couple of times, to get the exercises and be shown how to do them.

    THIS 100% Someone just spouting doom and gloom at you all the time is just not conducive to proper healing in any way shape or form!

    There is every chance. I just wouldn't pin your hopes on one specialist so to speak, because if he fails to get to the bottom of the problem, where are you at now, we talked about that negative mind set. There are some AMAZING therapists out there, that I can highly recommend who think completely out side the box and take a totally different approach to injury. (Not mambo jambo herbal stuff, just looking at how the body moves differently etc)

    I couldn't recommend Ronnie Warde optimumbody.ie enough. He's in Galway so might be a bit of a trip. I'll find out if there is anyone closer to home.
