No mention yet of whether Esteban Chavez will renew with Mitchelton-Scott. There's likely to be a risk to this with an inevitable budget increase being spent on the Yates bros.
Also, Ivan Sosa is apparently not confirmed with Trek as it was his previous manager and not Sosa himself who signed the contract; his (new) management team are apparently trying to get him into Sky (or angle for a better deal from Trek....)
Nico not shown on the above chart as signing with Sunweb, btw..

Wasn't Chavez going to one of the Lotto teams? It was Ewan I was thinking of going to Lotto

Wout van Aert terminated his contract with Veranda's Willems-Crelan.

With the Crelan-Roompot merger going ahead, WVA had expressed his intention to move on as he wasnt involved in the discussions. A bit like the ABS debacle, he may have been able to void the existing contract with Crelan when the new entity took over.

Surprised Terpstra is leaving Quick-Step - he had a good year there

I think Chavez is still under contract for another year, so no renewal to announce. I heard it discussed around the time of the Giro, as to whether it really suited either party anymore.

Listening to Delaney, that was why Crelan were staying as the employing organisation in the ABS merger.

Matthew Hayman retiring in January after the tour down under

Seems really difficult for Connor Dunne to find a team...too many closing down

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,556 ✭✭✭Macy0161

Haven't listened to the no go tour podcast yet, but the extract on the main one suggested he was one of the riders under contract? If it was, and Delaney true to his word, maybe he can do some deal with Delaney honouring at least some of the salary?

Even if his salary is honoured the bigger problem is going to be finding a team for 2020. He'll be even more out of the shop window by middle of next season and more then likely forgotten.

I was more thinking that he may get a place due to Delaney paying or even part paying his contract. If he was one of those under contract, and if Delaney was honouring that contract (or even part of it in those circumstances).

    F. Gaviria apparently going to UAE next season from QS, odd move.

    Money maybe.
Also Lefevere still looking for a title sponsor, and about 10 sprinters coming up behind.

Probably not good news for Dan though, if they're going from GC team to sprint train. Back in the same trap he was, ironically, at QS.

QS have signed the new Junior World Champion, Remco Evenepoel (though that was announced a while ago).

Wout Van Aert may, or may not be available too for signing in the next few weeks but he's being sued by his team.

The whole van aert thing is very weird.

WVA is signed for Lotto NL Jumbo for 2020 onwards but has cancelled current contract with current team.

Edit : Lotto NL Jumbo, thanks to poster below.

Very interesting development in that Aleix Espagaro, who rode for Aprillia in MotoGP for the last few years has signed a full contract to ride for Movistar. He is an accomplished cyclist and trains a lot with Joachim Rodriguez amongst others, but this is still a major move. It will be interesting to see how he gets on as a 29 y/o debutant.

Hmmm. ....so this ^^^was a load of boll0x apparently.

The 'news' was announced on 28th December - which is apparently the Spanish equivalent of 1st April in these parts.....
    #fooled

    From La Gazzetta dello Sport...

"In reality, however, it was all a joke. December 28th is the day of the Holy Innocents, which in Spain corresponds, precisely, to our first of April. Espargaro never really thought about leaving the bikes to venture into an unlikely cycling career, although he never hid his passion for this sport. Who knows how they will have taken it in the Aprilia team of Fausto Gresini, with whom the Catalan driver has a contract also for 2019.

Not really a transfer as such but I'm interested to see how Mathieu Van der Poel gets on this year on the road after what was a great cyclocross season as his team have moved up to pro conti level and can race would tour races now if invited. He's down for Gent-Wevelgem, Dwars door Vlaanderen, and the Tour of Flanders and Amstel Gold Race.

He does have form and results on the road and is current Dutch national champ.

iirc he did well at the Artic Race of Norway last year, taking a couple of stages.

Andrey Amador to Ineos. There is some unrest at movistar I wasn't aware of.

I think the falling out between Unzue and the agent has been fairly common knowledge. You'd wonder how they can get out of signed, or at least announced agreements, and Sam can't get out of a private verbal agreement though...

André Greipel has terminated his contract Arkéa Samsic. No word until November what his plans are for next year.
