Eirsport App (green) not working with Android 8.1

    Hi Eir,

    I am trying to get Eirsport working on my new Android 8.1 but it won't stream.


    I can login and device is listed as registered.

    Error message: Sorry something went wrong, try again.

    In settings there is diagnostic:
    one line says:  Currently installed Application version 1.5, last available application is 1.3   !!!???

    The strange thing is I can cast to my TV from the app and that all works fine, but if I just try to watch directly on my phone I get the error. Also works fine on my son's phone even both phones are running the same Android version (8.0). Is there some video driver or codec that needs to be installed on my phone for it to work, for reference my phone is a Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 (excellent good value smart phone by the way, never had any issue like this with any other apps).

    Had a similar problem last Sunday morning when trying to watch Moto GP.  Rebooted my phone and all was again working.

    I am using Google Chromecast to watch content from the Eir Sport app. It says the picture is HD quality, but it is not. Is there any way I can improve the picture quality?

    Good excuse Eir. Outage my b****x. Your app is just a heap of s**t as is most of the other services you provide. And don't even get me started on your customer service. 

    I pay for Eir sports. Yet I find myself spending 20+ minutes trying to find a good illegal streaming site to watch it on. 

    If you look through Boards, Reddit, Twitter, Facebook etc...... you will find endless amounts of people complaining about the application not working. I have had the app for 6 months now and it hasn't worked once for me and I try to use it at least once a week. 
    If you look at the last update on the app in the app store you will see the last update was released on the 18th October 2017.  

    Why don't Eir just go and fix one issue and at least make a couple of people happy, for once.

    We are aware of issues with the green eir Sport app and Chromecast - it is not working for a significant number of customers.
    The issue is under investigation but we don't have a root cause or estimated fix time yet. We are still gathering examples to assist with the investigation. We will update again as soon as we can, please assure customers that we are working on this as a priority.

    A priority to Eir probably means it will take about a year before its even looked at.  

    The issue isn't only with the Eir app and chromecast. It is also just the Eir app itself. It never works.

    Gathering examples? What do you mean by this? That sounds like it is a small number of people having issues and you need to really look out for them
