    Nobody makes money from books in an Irish market, do they?

    Like 100 sales could make you a bestseller here, and that might net you a couple of hundred euro.

    Well somebody must make money otherwise nobody would be doing it.

    Oh for sure, sorry; I mean yes, publishers make a living by publishing a lot of books, but as for individual authors? Not unless they break England. A man down from where I'm from, goes by the name of Donal Ryan, says he couldn't make a living by writing his books alone, and he's had positive reviews in the NY Times. He has to teach creative writing for a living.

    So I suspect for Gareth O'Callaghan, this book is more of a personal ambition than anything that is going to help him financially.
