Folding bench/rack

I’m considering getting some sort of foldable bench and rack, something like this:

    http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7965605.htm

Problem is that the max user weight it supports is 100kg and I’m about 106kg now.

I’d like something foldable as I don’t have a lot of space in my apartment, although I think I’d have to buy a new barbell as the 6ft one I have I think only supports up to 40kg or so.

I’m doing strong lifts so it’s just squats, bench press, shoulder press, barbell row and deadlift. So I really just need a barbell, plates, bench and some sort of rack.

Anyone here got any sort of foldable/space saving setup?

A decent bench and two squat stands would probably be the best option for you then. The stands can be used to bench as well but you would need a decent bar, plates, flooring etc to get decent weight moving. If you are lifting in your apartment though it might be an idea to join a gym as your neighbors might not like you dropping 100+ kg on the floor.

Either my eyes are playing tricks or that bar is bending with 50kg on it? Jaysus, don't get that.

As above, standalone squat stands would work. Look at adverts/donedeal for second hand. A quick search and I found this. Rated for 180kg and has some basic safeties.

    Hi Veganrun,

Where are you? I have an almost identical York bench, bar & weights that you can have for free if you collect. Its few years old but is in perfect fine apart from dust buildup!

Yeah I won't be getting the bending bar, I think it screws together in the middle! I have a 6ft bar at home but I think the max it can take is 50kg so it wouldn't be that useful for deadlifts.

    I'm in the north rofno.

Ah well, I'm in North Kildare. You can take bench/weights away if you want to collect but I might be too far away.

Yeah probably too far, thanks for the offer though.

I didn't think about the floor, it's some kind of wood effect hard lino thing, although I'm not one for dropping heavy weights anyway.

Then the weights need to be heavier :) if you get to 100kg + it will be very hard to put the weight down gently. Halfords is a good option for matts you could get some cheap rubber garage mats to lift on would prevent damage and maybe reduce sound a bit too.
