How do I restore this bedside locker?

I want to fix up this locker. It’s pine, I think, there’s scratches on it and marks/ stains... you can see in photo. I’d like to keep natural wood colour rather than paint it. Should I use wax or varnish? I need to cover the scratches on it but don’t want it with a high shine at the end of it. Will wax cover up the marks or does it need something else? I’m new to this so appreciate any advice!

Sand it down. Danish Oil. Danish Oil. Then buff it up.

If you want a shine, Oil then varnish- gloss or satin.

The "better" the finish you require decides how well you need to sand. Just buffing up the Danish Oil is quite forgiving, whereas gloss is another story.
