My first electric vehicle! I've seen one for sale privately that looks almost too good to be true. I wouldn't know what to look for. Its a 30kwh with a 6.6kw charger.

Can anyone pm me with details of someone who can check this out for me and approx cost for this?

    Many thanks

Not in Dublin and not a Northern car.

Not in Dublin and not a Northern car.

Ok fair enough. I can’t help when there’s riddles been spouted.

P.S. the car has 12 bar battery health ;)

Don’t know loads, but know enough.
You can see the 12 bars in the donedeal ad.

    Too late.
Owner needs to free up cash for a company issue. He just needs 3k for revenue.

I just done a deal, taking my 141 24 kWh car and 3.5k for his Leaf. I’m on my way to collect now.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 40,366 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

Agh no, I’m only winding the OP up.
I think it’s a great buy. If you got that for €15k.

So, back to my original question - can anyone recommend someone to look it over?

It's in Athlone....check if any local mechanic does a service to check over cars.....

Not a whole pile that can go wrong with a Leaf so unless he has smashed it to pieces you should have no problems....

If only looking you should have a goo at this: https://www.carzone.ie/used-cars/volkswagen/golf/used-2015-152-volkswagen-golf-electri-dublin-fpa-201808019019269

That is an incredible price for eGolf. A 2017 model is selling at 30k+.....the last 2015 sold earlier this year went at 22k

Just bring it to the nearest Nissan dealer. They’ll do a health check for about €80. Well worth it for peace of mind and to check for anything that can be done under warranty.

If the mileage is close to the point where it needs a service, just get the service done (about €130), because that will include a full health check up too.

The current owner should have no problem with this, and if they do, ask why.

Thats cheap. I sold a Tdi golf a few years back. The person was in Cork so he arranged for a guy to check it over before delivery. It cost him 300 quid...

    130 is nothing

    130 is nothing

    Best 80 I ever spent.

Until I realized a couple of months later that the 130 service does more or less the same thing. I spent 210 when I could have gotten away with 130 if I’d dived in and got the service done on day one.

Checking it over is no different to any other car in a lot of ways. Look for panel alignment (not always top notch with UK built Leafs anyway), oddities in the paint (orange peel used to be a thing, but not so much any more) and so on.

Check for irregular wear of tyres (a known problem).

After that it's Leafspy. Check the SOH and how many Quick Charges it's had. If you're happy, start negotiating.

 He told me he bought it from a local Nissan dealer! Any wonder it wasn't greenlight verified. He pleaded ignorance to this. Where did you get the report? Is it free?

Had decided against this one anyway. Really like the light blue colour :o Thanks for the heads up though!

The gaps between the bumper and the bonnet / charger flap are dreadful. Also, the drivers door looks a different shade of silver.

He did tell me but I can't remember. Maybe he's genuine and really didn't know about the damage though I did ask him if there was any damage in my email enquiry and he didn't reply!

I would have taken it to a Nissan dealer for a check up before buying it and I presume they would have spotted it?

Unfortunately that's common for the Sunderland built Leaf, mines similar.

    www.cartell.ie
    www.motorcheck.ie

    usually cost €10 plus
Any wonder it wasn't greenlight verified.

Don't get too hung up on the green light verification on Donedeal.
This green light relies on the person uploading the ad typing in all the details that's on the log book while its in front of them. Some people will do it, some wont bother, so don't dismiss a car based on it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,648 ✭✭✭knifey_spoonie

Its a Motorcheck Car History report, Its not free. I think its in the region of €20-€30 for the general public to do as UK history check

It really just confirms the suspicion from looking at the pictures. The fact it has 3 shades of silver paint, The overall poor fit of panels, the lack of any branding on the number plates & rear window, and the big one is the price.

If he bought it from a Nissan delaer, he'd want to be returning it for a full refund under the threat of taking them to court.

    Not necessarily

The car was crashed and repaired. If done properly, that's 100% legitimate

As a buyer I would use it as a negotiation chip, get a large chunk off. As the seller I would kindly decline, go back to the Nissan dealer I bought it from and tell them to either take the car back or give me a serious discount on what I paid them

My exact thought....buy it cheap....run it into the ground and then pull the battery out and use for SolarPV....:p:p

Looking at the photos it's not a quality repair... And that's only the photos! Imagine what it's like up close.

Any car, I ever buy goes through the de-dealer tag stage. I remove all dealer stickers, plates and I buy new plain black plate surrounds and metal pressed plates.

And I think people are over estimating the quality that comes from the Sunderland plant on Gen 1.5 Leaves
Most of them have inconsistent panel gaps from my experience.

How much would you pay for a 142 Tekna 24kw with a 6.6 charger, 58000 km? It's from a main dealer. There are no pics but I've seen it. No Dublin plates unfortunately!
