What dug out the wasp and bees nests?

    I live in an isolated house in the country. There's some rough overgrown ground around our garden. I leave it pretty much alone, but give it a rough strim a few times a year to keep off growth of bushes and briars and to encourage a wildflower habitat. A few weeks ago I noticed that 2 bumble bee nests and one wasps nest were dug out by some animal. I'm amazed that anything could disturb a wasps' nest without getting badly stung. I tried covering one of the bumble bee nests but all were abandoned after a few days.
    We've a collie, but I doubt she could be responsible. The neighbours also have dogs which occasionally wander around. We've also got foxes and even though I haven't seen any there are badgers in the vicinity.

    Any ideas?

    Plenty dug up in my area. This done by badgers.
