Hang on, please explain. Your round one prediction was: Draws for Fox, Scott and Carroll.

Carroll drew so that's 1; Scott lost but apparently you are claiming 2 for predicting a Fox draw when he actually won (thanks at least in part to Stephen not pressing the clock on time at time 40).

If you are claiming 2 for that then I have 2 also, please clarify.

Maybe a better system for the future would be like the old treble chance on the football pools. We pick 3 games and score according to whether it is a Home (higher seed) win, Away (lower seed) win or a Draw, but with the "Away" win rather than the Draw getting the highest score?

Maybe it's not too late to switch to that scoring system? I will do my predictions in the morning when I get your feedback on this.

PP99 (0) Win for Scott and Li, Draw for Short

Tim Harding predictions (current score 0 or 2? see query above):
WINS for Collins and Li; DRAW for Moran

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,160 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

    Carroll drew so that's 1

It's 1 point for predicting a seeded win, 3 for predicting a draw, and 5 for predicting an unseeded win

    .

I'm not quite sure which part of "THREE POINTS FOR A DRAW" you don't understand.Everyone else seemed to get it.

ChessPlayer123 (1) predicts win for Tirziman and draws for Daly and Li

  • Registered Users Posts: 273 ✭✭EnPassant

EnPassant (0) - draws for the 3 lowest rated players with white - Dermot Nolan, Zalan Nemeth and Peter Cafolla.

There are 3 players with the same rating in the tournament - what are the points for games between them?

Good question.......If these players meet....3pts for the draw, 5 for a win by either player BUT if you pick one player to win and he loses then you are docked 5 Pts. Just a little landmine to spice things up!!

    Another snakey draw?

I suspect sodacat has taken up the c3 Sicilian with all these half points... :)

You forget that I was joint leader with one round to go in 2012. I may be six years older now but on a good day I can still play a few decent moves.

Big money won on the Lopez win against Sam.

No predictions from Tim, Ciaran or Past_Pawn - so a bye point to each.

I have the following now. Two clear leaders after appearing.

    13 - EnPassant
    12 - Retd.LoyolaCpt
    9 - ChessPlayer123
    7 - Reunion
    6 - Zeitnot
    6 - Sodacat
    6 - cdeb
    5 - Tim Harding
    5 - Rathminor
    3 - Ciaran
    1 - Past_Pawn_99

    Round 4 is here

I think I need to gamble a bit to get back into this - so going all in here. Dermot Nolan, Paul O'Neill and Mihailo to win.
