Really looking forward to this one.

Eddie vs Dustin is the fight I've been looking forward to most this year and there's a few other cracking match-ups on the card too with Aldo/Stephens and Tecia/Joanna.

Add to that it's an "early" card and I can't wait!

Fingers crossed we can make it through the weigh-ins without losing any fights. :o

I hope Stephens knocks out Aldo in 12 seconds or less, would be hilarious. I like Tecia since Tuf, would love to see her get a big win but I think Joanna is gonna come out looking for blood fast and early. Eddie and Dustin is gonna be another war. Dustin will probably try and ease back a bit knowing Eddie isn't easily finished and gotta watch his gas tank this time.

As for the Canadian gangster, he even brought his own security team today :pac:

what do ye think about the js aldo match up?

they are much the same price to back.

I really favour aldo here, losing last two to max no disgrace and a three round with js will imo feel a lot easier
js has faced fighters in his last three who stand and band which is rarely a good idea there
aldo wont be that guy and I think js will struggle to nail aldo.

also hasn't declined that much even if jeremy looks better than ever, heart would love to see js somehow win and possibly get a shot though

Brilliant card, again when you see the poster for the top 3 fights it would easily surpass plenty of dud PPV's over the past 12 months or so.

How much earlier is this than the usual? Normally the main event is around 5am Irish time. When would you expect to see the main event this time around?

    I like Aldo here.

Us MMA fans have a habit of completely writing off top fighters after a couple of losses, but there’s no shame in losing to Holloway and he did look very solid against Frankie after the Conor fight.

Probably one of those spots where he’ll win a unanimous decision and everyone will be like “how did we actually think Stephens had that much of a chance?”.

Alvarez usually makes for a good fight (I hope I’m not jinxing it here). He’s reckless. He’s aggressive. Much more reliable than ngannou whose last fight was a dud.

All in all I think the event isn’t bad despite the feeling I get that it’s not really getting promoted much. I only found out about it by casually visiting boards.

Totally agree with you both here. So many others though are writing Aldo off here and I think Stephens is even the betting favourite. Aldo has only lost to champions and top contenders in this division.

I’d be expecting Aldo to weather an early storm from JS and win the fight with sniping shots and kicks. He’s far from the spent force that many are making him out to be.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,593 ✭✭✭theteal

I think JS may even think Aldo is a bit broken and have a bit more confidence than he should going into this one. He would have never got this fight 3 yeas ago. I’d love to see just even a little bit of the old savage Aldo here

A lot of people on here and the pro picks seem to be sleeping on Eddie tonight. I thought he had the last fight won before the illegal knee.

Think he gets the win tonight by tko. The guy has huge heart and that will count alot tonight.

This Devin Powell guy looks like he should be on Bumfights.

Anik: "any names you want to fight next"
    Nina: "No name, top ten"

I fully agree with Chael when he says "if you dont care, why should we". Fighters should have someone in their mind to call out when they win to try gather some excitment for their fights.

These fighters need to get some promotional lessons to sell themselves so they can start earning more money. I know everyone isn't a Conor Mcgregor but they can at least try to get people excited about their careers.

Yet again.... Dustin wasted a chance when all eyes were on him, why not call someone out higher up than you and try jump up the ladder a bit.

With all due respect an interview on a Fight Pass prelim is going to do very little to get the ball rolling.

Your post is silly you answer your own question too everyone isn't a McGregor simple as, some fighters are focused on completing the task at hand and not be focused on a victory speech that may not materialise. The UFC is to blame about promoting she was on the Prelims last time out that win got her demoted to fight pass it seems.

If they did something to gain attention it would get discussed on MMA podcasts and get viewed on youtube.

The UFC could do better promotion for sure, not going to argue there.

Won his last time out but lost the 4 or 5 prior to that.

Even DC is saying the same thing as me. Are you going to say he is talking silly?

    Its what I am saying.

Fighters think Punches and kicks are whats important and they are wrong! Its the entertainmetn business, they need to be entertainers and try sell themselves. Pick any names a couple of ranks above you and call them out and try push for a fight. (calling them out even gives them something to show to advertise the next fight)

Makdessi coming out to Tiesto...... Nice

Dying to see Hernandez fight again, he smashed dariush on his debut.

Possible fight of the night just there surely.

Pearson, still a warrior. Always entertaining.

That was a potential FOTN. I wonder if UFC will cut Pearson, or if that display earned him a reprieve despite the loss. The gap in class was so clear but RP was grit personified.

Well He's influenced by WWE as is McGregor for that matter so he loves all that lark, can it be entertaining ya I don't dispute it may be the odd time but for every natural I see way too much diluting with fighters trying their hand at it and being unconvincing and looks pathetic.

I might be in the minority but I tune in to fight cards for the actual fights not in the hope someone cuts a cracking promo when they get their hand raised.

I actually agree with you but as Brock showed a few weeks ago this isn't the world we live in. WWE type crap sells, so fighters need to start trying to sell themselves. I am not saying they need to all copy Conor but they can find their own shtick. Just show emotion of some kind, show the fans something that they can get behind.

Very true. His main problem is he can never move on from a certain train of thought. He notices something interesting, starts analyzing it (very well tbf to him) but then becomes so intent on finishing his full opinion on it that he misses something far more interesting that happens while he's explaining himself. It's that one aspect of Joe Rogan's commentary that makes him a pro, he can drop a subject at a moments notice once something more entertaining happens.

I was so happy for Aldo there, seeing him pull out a big win to salvage his career.

And now I’m back to hating him again after that celebration. Didn’t like it when Griezmann did it, don’t like it now.

Cant help but feel thats a serious setback for Stevens. Cant see him getting near a title shot now.
