Working full time-can you responsibly adopt a dog?

Hi, I'd really like to find out if adopting a dog is a viable option for me and my family. We have 3 children aged 5, 9 and 11. Both adults work full time, so there's nobody home from just before 9 to half past six in the evenings during the week. We're home all weekend though. Both my husband and myself grew up with dogs…

Always seem to be recomending the greyhounds,but a middle aged greyhound and a sofa would work fine.
Oh..rereading your post..9 hours is a long time.There would have to be some provision for a toilet break.Presuming the dog would be inside.You couldn't be leaving it shut out for that long.
