    Break to win ..

Going with Mollema(if in it) or Jon Izagirre

I have done a fair bit of cycling in this region, my Dad lives on the Canal Du Midi near Puicheric about 27kms from Carcassonne. Have done the Pic de Nore from both sides, this side is a bit more regular and is probably too benign for any GC action, the other side is over 10% for the last 3-4kms and would better suit. Its an exceptionally beautiful part of France, the Pays Cathare, and the medieval Cité du Carcassonne is incredibly impressive, I never get bored of visiting.

Nuts start today. Demare etc might have a hope of getting back on now. Nearly 50km for the break to get away

Maybe I'm being simplistic but I don't understand why the GC men don't give Sky an occasional dig out the course, if nothing else just to annoy them. Sunweb etc seem to be happy to sit on in the vague hope something might happen later.

Sky are the strongest team by far, if you do something like that you will end up more tired than they are and probably lose more time.
It would take a big effort to get past them then they just reel you in at their own pace.
They will be on the front controlling the peloton for every stage.

An insane amount of work to put in to try and get a few seconds back but it could get him back into 9th place.

You just have to love Dan Martin's attitude. Loves to give it a go.

Great to see him attack, madness, hopefully he can pull back a minute or two.

That was rather easy for Nielsen. Good team work from Astana

Unless Mollema and Izagirre mugged him, Nielsen was always going to win that 3 up sprint

For what it's worth he's alleged to have punched Élie Gesbert of Fortuneo-Samsic 800m after the flag dropped.

Wonder will that AG2R rider face any sanction for striking the guy holding the flare?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,252 ✭✭✭Boscoirl

Sky will announce that Moscon has been reinstated then fortuneo rider has been expelled.

And for the pain and anguished caused he will be given a time bonus to put him on the podium

Should be a nice one month holiday for him given Lars Boom was banned for pretty much the same thing this year. Though when were the uci ever given to applying the rules consistently.

    Here's the punch

Serge Pauwels out as well following the crash at the end. Injury to his right elbow.

    Here's the punch

Expect a 1000 page report from Sky explaining that it wasn't actually a punch or some such.

This is a record for any classification jersey in theTdF
Eddie Merckx wore the yellow jersey 96 times.
