Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

In Vettel country where Vettel does not get as much of support as Schumacher did, still it looks like full house as they expanded the seating areas on the last stretch because of demand.

All sessions on Sky F1 and the Online Service
    Friday July 20th, Free Practice 1, 10:00-11.30
    Friday July 20th, FP2, 14:00-15.30
    Saturday July 21st, FP3, 11:00-12:00
    Saturday July 21st, Qualifying, 14:00-15:00
    Sunday July 22nd, Race, 14.10-16.10

The weather in Germany at this time of year is known for its unpredictability, with sunshine or heavy rain a possibility, and it looks like that’ll be the case this weekend.
Saturday should be an interesting qualifying, with light rain showers expected near the end of the session. Then on Sunday, the drivers can expect breezy conditions, with temperature highs of around 28 degrees Celsius. Makes for an exciting weekend.

    Predictions:
    Hamilton strikes back
    Kimi outperforming Vettel
    Both Haas in the points
    Leclerc too

I think from here, short of reliability issues, Vettel begins to run away with the championship.

Vettel to win with Kimi in second. Go Ferrari go Vettel.

    Peace and long life.

Hope Vettel can break his Hockenheim F1 duck - Mercedes really need to strike back though!

Any other weekend I would be delighted by this...grid penalties strike again.

FP1 and FP2 are almost completely meaningless though, in terms of representative times. There’s so much sand bagging these days between Merc and Ferrari, that it’s almost all meaningless until the second timed lap of Q3

Yeah, Hamilton to ace qualifying only to be beaten in the race by Vettel.

Hopefully a good race. I favour Mercedes if it's cloudy, Ferrari if it's hot

The weather forecast is for thunder storms in qualifying, but the race should be dry, partly cloudy 27/28 degree temps. Verstappen to qualify well if it's wet, could be a good fight for 3rd between himself and the two Finns on race day. Pole and the win a straight fight between Hamilton and Vettel. Ricciardo's penalties mean he's a non factor in the podium. Midfield battle should be tasty as always, doesn't look like McLaren are in that discussion at the moment.

The rain was heavy enough for a brief spell, they could be running now but they're all keeping the wet tyres for qualy.

Sky were struggling to fill the space with 'banter'. I discovered it was more enjoyable with the sound off

    Hamilton out!! :D

Hamilton will take no further part in qualifying. Wow

Happy with Hamilton going out. Unless he got a shout that everyone behind him was finished then there should be a nice load of penalty points going his way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,394 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

Wonder did he think he could push it back to the pits, its only qualifying Lewis, plenty of time to make up for it in the race tomorrow

Looks like he damaged the car running wide

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,291 ✭✭✭Mike Litoris

Surely that is going to result in action. You can't just get out mid track and push your car in qualifying

Childish stuff as well, he was told it was hydraulic so it's not something that'll be a quick fix.

And he did it himself rather than just a bit of bad luck which makes it even better. :P

We know he's hugely hard on himself, I'd say he gave himself a right dressing down there.
which makes it even better. :P

Yeah, who needs a battle out front when we can see a championship challenger down the back

He'll be starting 14th and should get up to 5th easily. 15 point loss if so and Vettel wins but that's not guaranteed. Verstappen could have a go and Bottas is crap. Just takes a small mistake from Vettel and he'll be behind Hamilton. Obviously it's a big drama but not quite on the scale they'll let on. :P

Meh. Doubt he was going to be challenging Vettel. Sure we'll get half a dozen or so amazing DRS passes by Hamilton. :P

It did make for a good race in Silverstone when Hamilton had to recover from his first lap. He might need some help from the weather or a safety car tomorrow but could be good to watch

Red flag. They do carry a lot of speed through the twisty bits

There's only 3 dropping out in this session so Verstappen should probably go on softs again for that plan.

It's not good for the qualifying show though, would have been an interesting battle for pole between Ferrari and Mercedes. As it is, Vettel for pole and a comfortable win tomorrow. No chance Kimi is allowed to race him.

Agreed, it's pretty much over in terms of the podium, short of reliability or a turn 1 incident tomorrow. But hey, it's Hamilton out, so lets celebrate!

In all the excitement of Hamilton, forgot to mention Ocon out in Q1 and slower than Sirotkin. Not a good day at the office for him

Not a bad performance from Sirotkin, P12 is pretty good. Ericsson made to look like a total chump again, slower than a Williams and 7 tenths slower than his teammate.

Good stuff from Perez to make Q3, unexpected given the relative strength of the car.

Yeah, looks like Williams fixed some of their aero issues and Sirotkin made the most of it. Stroll and Ericsson are the bottom rung of pay drivers.

Impressive from Perez alright. He's been kind of anonymous of late. Did Ocon have an issue or just a howler of a session?

Hamiltons helmet is off btw! :p
