    Hi,
Have a problem with a Yanmar 2GM20 20hp inboard, boat ran out of fuel (nothing to do with me) & now won't start. Tried bleeding & also have replaced both fuel filters. The fuel is getting from tank through both filters & into fuel pump but not pumping between fuel pump & injectors. Think I might have an airlock but not sure. I live near Belmullet, Mayo & was wondering if there was anyone near that could come & look at it for me please?

I spent pretty much my entire youth sailing up to about the age of 21. From age 14-20 I owned a mini tonner called 'Wildfire' which we raced out of Poolbeg. Prior to that, my dad had a Beneteau First 32s5 for a few years (the previous owners sunk it in Dun Laoghaire, so she was a write off, and my dad (and me helping), fully restored her to her former glory, and sailed her for about 4-5 years). I also used to spend summers working out in the INSS, so I was always in or around boats!.

There is a bleed screw along the fuel line on several spots . Try this first them back off one injector to clear the air. U should see fuel spluttering out when u are cranking her then close it off and try again.

Hi, thanks for your advice, I've not got anymore bleed valves on the fuel line unfortunately. After bleeding no fuel is coming through injectors. I've tried all the places to bleed. When we fitted the new fuel filter/water seperator it was not filled with fuel first before attaching it back on, would this make any difference?

Thanks, already watched it! I've just bought a hand pump like that which I'll try although a friend has told me that it won't do any good as the problem is between the main fuel pump & the injectors & the hand pump would not affect it as it's only good for getting fuel to shoot up the lines out of the tank & to the fuel filters which are before the main fuel pump. I personally have no idea & grow evermore confused each day!

Once you get the air out of the fuel pump you should be able to build up pressure turning the engine over at the same time loosen each fuel line one at a time before the injector and then after the injector.
