A disgusting mugginess to it today. We managed to finish our work day dry though so that's a bonus.

Another band of heavy rain heading towards the Coast now, yesterday in Galway was unreal, manhole covers lifting, roads with floods up to the wheels of cars ,it was like a monsoon.

Has been raining along most M7/M8 from Kildare town down to Cork City since about 12.00hrs. Rainfall was far heavier in some sections compared to others though, on the journey south.

Heading back to Dublin from Cork city now. Will report later.

What do you expect? Does it ever stop raining in this country?

Seriously though .... I'm liking the look of that band of rain over Wexford moving north, I'm hoping and praying that the Wicklow Mts rain shadow doesn't break it up before it reaches my backyard.

It looks still to be fairly intact over Wicklow at the moment. But I thought heavy rain wasn't what we needed as it would all just run straight off. I thought we needed lots of lighter stuff to gradually soak into the ground. Whatever arrives it'll be a bit of a shock after having had so little for so long.
