Skoda Octavia at 999 with almost half million km https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/skoda-octavia-2007/28514570

Hardly the worst offender, given it’s from a dealer, it’s an Elegance spec with DSG, has a huge dealer service history - and the most it’s overpriced by is a grand.

    Oops - Wrong thread :D

I would have bought this last week if it was up. Noise from gearbox is worrying though.

That looks like an absolute turd

Care to elaborate. What do you see?

Back bumper looks to be a cream colour. Rust on front strut bar(common problem) Cone instead of air box. Wheels are a bit rough and aftermarket steering wheel.

Spoiler is light grey. One of the quarter panels looks a differnet shade too. Maybe that's just the light though.

Yeah 7 years working Honda Parts will do that to you. The center caps aren't original either.

If we're being really critical, whoever screwed on the rear reg plate needs to have a word with themselves.

The Golf Highline was €26595 list price new in 2019.
I just don’t understand a model that came out in 2012 being that appealing.

I would try get something with the 1.5 tsi 150bhp. Its a peach.

  • Registered Users Posts: 73,439 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

New model Octavia for €25 or €26k would make more sense tbh.

There’s a big shortage of low mileage petrol engine 5 door hatchbacks.

We got a €5k manufacturer+dealer discount (from €34k to 29k) to buy the runout model mk7.5 golf r-line 1.5L in Jan 2020, only for the garage to offer us €29k to step into a €29k mk8 style golf 15 months later, March this year.
The car was then listed for €29,500 the next day and gone a few days later.

Yeah but a 2019 old model for 1500 less than it’s new price is nuts. Sure they were giving €2500 deposit contributions on them at the time to sell them!

If imported to Ireland, it would incur VAT on the purchase price because it is under 6,000 km, but it would attract VAT anyway, plus VRT and NOX.

I don't think anyone's thinking of importing it.

We had a 171 Highline before the 201 r-line and got €22k for it 3 years old, so there was plenty equity in it.

All I’d say is, in this current market, where well spec’ed petrol golfs are not as common as before and VW garages are actively looking for them back (happened to us twice now), that car from Connollys isn’t all that surprising.
I wouldn’t pay that price myself, but it’s not surprising.

Long time since a Golf Highline was 26k.

They were 31k on the road including metallic and tech pack IIRC

I checked the price list from 2019 before I posted. I haven’t included metallic or tech on that though. Point still remains.

Is 12k a realistic price for this? I assumed it would be worth more as it's standard!

    That's a beautiful thing,
I had a saloon as my first proper car and it was a complete gem, and I miss it to this day!

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,309 ✭✭✭✭wotzgoingon

Were they even 12 grand new back in 1991.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,438 ✭✭✭✭MEGA BRO WOLF 5000

That's absolutely identical to another mint one that was for sale a few weeks ago for 4k, how does one check when zv plates were applied for because im almost sure that was for sale a few weeks ago at 1/3 the price.

Asking €12,000 for the yoke and not even a picture of the interior included.

Plus the reg plate is crooked. I see this all the time lately and it bothers me way more than it ought too.

Its a nice car and desirable at the moment - but FFS put in a bit of effort lad.
