Heading to Liverpool next month and are likely using a travel agency to be sure to be sure

Want a hotel beside everyday stuff like shops cafes pubs etc. Then can walk to non essential stuff once off. Don't want repeat of Edinburgh beside Xmas Market with 15 minute walk to pubs, food, tourist etc everyday

We where there before on weekend football trip and stayed in Richmond, Hattan Green and felt away from it all

The Liner hotel came up as their first suggestion and to me im its in old liverpool with all stuff we need

Then also offered jury's inn and we thought great as beside liverpool one, but then thinking not much everyday stuff for cafe, drink etc(not into silly money fancy dining). Also seen days inn beside liverpool one, but literally part of a train station so could be noisy

Thanks for any and all help

Currently living in Liverpool so can try help you out. Id go for the tune hotel on castle st its smack bang on the middle of everything https://www.tunehotels.com/united-kingdom-hotels/liverpool-city-centre/

There's also a Travelodge on the strand that is less than 5 years old both have very good rates. The liner is an old hotel up behind lime street build in the 70's era.

I always go for Z Hotel. It's one of my favourites. Near everything and complimentary cheese and wine down at reception every evening. Very welcoming hotel with great staff.

The Gladstone is fairly central if I'm not mistaken.

Stayed there a few years ago so it's a little cloudy!

Going with travel agency, likely Cassidy travel, just to be sure
We went to Edinburgh and was issues with no windows in room and cassidy fixed it for free(their fault as asked why room so cheap about 5 times)

Looking on the map from them

    Ibis styles
    Or
    Sir Thomas

Looking on tune hotel and says there is rooms with no windows

As a regular traveller to Liverpool I always use Premier Inn , great prices and great locations , also have a good nights sleep guaranteed policy so money back with no quibbles if you don't have a good nights sleep.

    Sounds good

Tune has rooms with windows as well its only £5 to £10 more its what we used to stay in. Nice location and matthew street is behind the back of it.

Have a look at Days Inn on James St, I always stay there. It's less than 5 minutes to Liverpool One, directly across the road from the Dock. Perfect spot IMO.

Trying to get an idea of hotel before I go onto travel agency and get ripped off, some extra for piece of mind I dont mind but not silly money

Tune Inn has no bar or restaurant. Nice place but cheap and cherrful

There's plenty of space in the trophy room.

+ 1 on the Tune hotel.

Stayed there recently, small room but clean with a great shower.

Very cheap and within walking distance of everything. No bar or anything, but when your staying in Liverpool city you dont need one!!

I will be staying there from now on.

Can I just ask, why are you considering a travel agent? You will pay substantially more money.

Just book the flights and hotel yourself, I got return flights and 2 nights hotel for myself and my wife recently for €190ish.

Just for safety net , as never booked outside Ireland ourselves

But looking at all the recommendations of hotels and not on Cassidy or best4travel, looks like its time to book myself

The Novotel just off Hanover Street is a decent shout. Great city for a few days if you haven't been before. Itself and York are the only two cities in Northern England I'd recommend to be honest.

Ryanair for flights and booking.com or else laterooms.com for the hotel. You will get it much cheaper yourself than through a travel agent.

STILL trying to get hotel sorted

New stumbling block is breakfast, OK if you have to pay but last I checked Ibis offered a contentional buffet, waiting to see if they do or how much is a fry with it

I wont be trying this again, its like EVERYTHING is extra, from your bag to leg room on plane to windows, towels or breakfast in hotel. like drawing up a contract

 thanks for that, no wonder theyre taking an age to reply

Is a fry something specialist, I would have thought be basic enough thing

Premier Inn booked, much more clear re breakfast with a Pdf menu

In the end i think about 50 less than travel agent (mistake with coming back clashing with going to a LOI match cost me E27 to move fight to earlier)

I think is food for thought going forward, a lot of little things bog you down as I mentioned

    Thanks for all recommendations
