I'm a 20yr old guy who has "fallen off the rails" to speak over the past few years but I'm making a comeback.

I was speaking to my therapist who says that since I lack social circle but can be confident when I want to, I should try as much as possible to date a young woman in college. I'm a bit hesitant because I don't know what could be reciprocated between two people in an relationship when one doesn't have a job, poor qualifications etc.

She reiterates that finances are not an issue and you can date even when you don't have money. Is this true? I would feel like a scrougner.

If it's an issue for you, then it's an issue. I was unemployed for a good portion of last year and I had absolutely no interest in dating during that period. A) I couldn't afford it and B) I just couldn't bear the thought of having to have the "So what do you do?" conversation.

Now, I fully accept that these were my issues and plenty of people will come on here and tell you that anyone who has a problem with your financial situation isn't worth dating in the first place, but I think that it's a perfectly valid concern for you to have on your own behalf.

I think if you are dating a college girl, then she will probably be tight enough on the auld finances and in no position to judge you on that front.

Someone did say this on Reddit and highlighted it's better to make friends first and then a girlfriend will come. They suggested meetup but the problem is...most events require outdoor activities where you pay money :(. The last time I had two euros was in May.
