Blockbusters - Trial Game (Game 0)

    Rules:

Two teams; whatever number of players we have, dont think team sizes matter that much. Lets leave it at max 3 per team to start with.

New players can be added to teams as they come in alternating order.

Pick a number between 1 and 3 to determine who goes first. Ill pm the number to someone to verify it.

Teams then take alternating turns choosing a block by its letter, and answering a question corresponding to that letter. The answer will start with that letter. Answers will be 1 word answers.

If a team answers correctly, the block they chose turns into their colour.

If a team gets a question wrong, it will be offered to the other team to steal the block and change it to their colour.

The goal of the game is to create a continuous line of blocks in your colour from left to right (blue team) or top to bottom (yellow team).

ABSOLUTELY NO GOOGLING OF QUESTIONS OR ANSWERS ALLOWED BY PLAYERS. Honour system is in place, so we cant stop you, but be sound and dont do it!

    453427.JPG

First come first serve for teams!

    Team 1 (Blue)
    Mollyb60
    Jules86
    Osh

    Team 2 (Yellow)
    BJ
    Basq
    Guffy

    Good luck all!

Jules I'm thinking Blue for the team. Do you want to pick a letter to get us rolling?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,732 ✭✭✭Mollyb60

Also Bob, same as for codenames I'm thinking we can confer on the answer all we like but our official answer will need to be in CAPS as a way to distinguish it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

Actually, lets leave it at 3 a team for now.

Let's pass it over to the yellows for now. This is all new, so i dont mind discussing it, but just to keep both teams involved, ill throw it over to the other team on alternate goes.

    Sorry Blues!

    Yellow, pick a letter please.

    Yellow, pick a letter please.

That's fair enough actually. I can't remember how it goes in the show. But for fairness sake I'm happy enough with this system.

Do we get a chance to answer and steal a hex if Blues get the answer wrong?

Has to be beside a yellow doesn’t it?

    You're right.. amended!

FYI - Blockbusters on TV had buzzer system between contestants IIRC so makes this more difficult. Winner keep picking could be over too quick though I reckon.. essentially this is Blockbuster meets Connect 4! :D

Absolutely no clue what this could be.. trying to think of names for extreme winds and can only think of hurricane or cyclone.

Confer - any clue BJ or Guffy?

We are having an ongoing chat in our games workshop/brainstorm thread if you wanna pop your thoughts up!

Its hard to balance the tenseness(?) of a buzzer game with the practicalities of it being an on thread game.

Clue may have been a bit too obscure. As we are still feeling this out, im just gonna add in a bit i was debating to include.

What K is a southwesterly winter wind in Hawaii, often strong and bringing rain, as well as a brewing company/brand of beer from Hawaii.

Rest assured yellows, even if ye dont know, blues questions will be sufficiently obscure to keep things interesting. Im hoping it will be steals a go-go.
