Full Frame or Crop upgrade?

I have a Canon 600D and am thinking of an upgrade but dont know if I can go Full Frame
Budgets an issue as the money tree in the garden died so it wont be a 5D Mark 4....or a mark 3 for that matter

I don't want to change my lenses as I've invested quiet a bit in them over the years.

I do landscape mainly.

My lenses are
Tamron XR Di2 AF 18-200 F3.5-6.3 (IF)
Tamron 16-300 F/3.5-6.3 Plezo Drive
Tamron USD 150-600 F/5-6.3
Sigma DG 70-300 1.4-5.6
Sigma EX 10-20 1.4-5.6 DC HSM
Canon EF-S 18-55 (IS)
Canon EF-S 55-250 (IS)
Canon 40mm

Not an expert, but rarely log in here and saw this... No idea what those tamron and sigma lenses are, but I believe that your ef-s canons won't work on full frame. Your sigma and tamron may be the same if they are designed for crop sensor

Did a bit of research last night. All my lenses bar the 150-600 will only work on crop.

Also a 600D shooter. If you want a free "Upgrade" ML is great on it. Intervalometer + HDR etc come in useful.


My issue with it is pure sensor performance, in poor lighting my phone starts wiping the floor with it.

Seems like you have a lot of crossover with focal lengths. Are you looking to upgrade for photography only? No video work?

Why do you have lenses which cross focal lengths?

Personally, I'd recommend you selling them and making your money back and buy F Mount Nikon lenses. You could sell your current rebel camera and lenses on Ebay and buy a D500 which is an absolute must if you're considering upgrading to a better photography camera.

Yes, my preference is Nikon, but everyone to their own

AS for cross focal length. Its just the way things went. I use my tamron/sigmas more than my kit lenses. Just depends on where I am and what i think I'll see.

Your 16-300 makes your 18-55 18-200 55-250 and 70-300 almost redundant.
I have the F mount Tamron 18-200 for Nikon, and its a great little lens. For the price of those lenses I've listed, you could sell them as a bundle on Ebay and get 2 new F Mount lens for Nikon should you consider selling your Canon and getting a Nikon D500?

I'll never buy another camera again. You can't go wrong, ask anyone who has one.

Think you've been confused by a previous poster, he's EF-S and EF not FX and DX, no good way to make them work together.

i wasn't sure if the same concept would apply, if an EF-S lens on an EF body would trigger the body to automatically cropping.

Physically won't fit. Plastic protrusion and a rear element that goes too far.

I don't think you're comprehending. You don't need / shouldn't have bought about half of your lenses. You've essentially wasted a heap of money buying lenses that all do the exact same thing. The fact that you can choose from 5 lenses for shooting at 1 focal length isn't good! :pac:

Canon EF-S 10-22
Canon 24-70 F/2.8 L
Canon 70-200 F/2.8 L

If I was going to expand on that, the next one I'd get would be a 300 F4.

Personally I'd suggest sorting out your lens collection before changing camera body. Most of what you have while they're fine lenses, they aren't great quality glass - they're all mostly limited at f/3.5-6.3.

That's the problem with buying lenses when only starting out. You don't always make the best choices.

Figure out which ones you genuinely should keep. My suggestions would be the 10-20, the 40mm prime and the 150-600. Sell everything else and consolidate to 2 quality lenses covering ~20-200mm.

Canon or Sigma 24-70 or 24-105 (F2.8 or F4) would be my first suggestion. Sigma also has a 70-200 that's a bit cheaper than the Canon alternative.

Use the ebay "Sold Listings" filter and find recent sales of the same units in the same condition. That'll give you an accurate ballpark.
